Kathem Sings for Jerusalem and Iraq

Kathem Al Saher is the undisputed number one musician composer and singer combination in the Arab World for the past 20 years. While great musicians have sang in the past and singers have written music, but none of them has perfected this combination since the 80s. Till Kathem Al Saher emerged. Again, there are very fine composers right now who can sing and deliver some high brain entertainment. But Kathem remains the most successful and perhaps the hardest working of them all.

As of right now he has 24 albums of his own plus a dozen of singles soundtracks and much more. So early on during the bloom of his career, the mid 90s he released love songs and poetic songs. But he has also stayed close to the issues of the day as Iraq was very hot issues back then and still right now. Palestine and the city of Jerusalem were seeing an increased illegal settlements activities and still much has not changed ever since.

But today, I was reminded by an older son of his that was both timely and thought provoking. He performed this song about Jerusalem bringing both the symbols of Islam and Christianity. Using the word of God and the plight of the people to highlight this issue. It was a big hit and it has harsh words for the settlers and the land grabbers.

"Here is Palestine and this is our Jerusalem" says Kathem on the tongue of the city's native residents. Kathem has pretty much sang for each Arabic country and has performed in every major concert hall in Arabia and around the world. He is the one to take Arabic music into new places and he counties to gain new fans.
