Mohamed Mounir is a smart singer, he is the intellectual kind that has a brain and a great vocals. Mounir went to Dubai for the first time in his career and sang in front of the world's tallest tower to thousands of screaming fans from all over the world--but mostly Egyptians and Arabs who turned out to enjoy this unique blend of music that comes from the deep south side of Egypt, a land known for a deep love for music.
I like his songs, but I absolutely love how he answers the questions during his press conference. He says, he has no Morocco song, no Saudi Arabia song, he as just his songs that fit anywhere you put them. Unlike many Arab celebrities the king of Egyptian music needs not to flirt with the politics of the land where he is performing. He has an archive of over 25 years of making awesome music form which he will choose what songs to perform....he declared not to have a secret song--Amr Diab does that a lot.
He also spoke about the Arab countries and the larger homeland for artists who have the power to sing in one common langauge and get their music enjoyed from the Gulf to the ocean. While Mounir does mostly folksy songs, he uses the rock approach more than the pop one. His persona is all over him and you can see it form the way he speaks and the way he dresses.
