Abdel Halim Hafez's Last Recroded Phone Call

The Egyptian radio has a phone call on the record for Abdel Halim Hafez where he called from his hospital bed here in Washington according to the story I read. But the beloved hit-maker and romantic treasurer was undergoing treatment for Bilharzia in King's College Hospital, London.

You hear him say he was returning to Egypt in ten days, he sounded upbeat and excited. "I am well, and good" The call shed some light on the details of his treatment where he was getting injections at 5 Am and other treatments, he kept to the hospital and walked around. Shiraz, I just like to say the name. And now we get to this this Lebanese songstress in as big budget music video that is somehow refreshing. I love how the song kicks off. Her new song "Kif Badak 3ani Tghib"  starts like a battle scene does. And wait for it, there is a real battle brewing. Battle of the sexes. Or is it dance battle? Still cool!

Two minutes later into the music video and we hear Shiraz sing it. The song is about not wanting to be apart from the one you love. No shame in that, I like the sets, the amazing images captured by Fadi Haddad. I like the song, Shiraz sounds just about right.

The song sounds a lot like many in Eastern European tradition. The song has already claimed the number one spot on many Lebanese radio hits and charts. Not too many new comers get to do that especially not in a very crowded music scene in a place like Lebanon. I think the music has a lot to do with it, and the production yes. But Shiraz is her own star and people are helpless against young, beautiful, talented, stylish and convincing women.

The 80's Hanan Marks A #Comeback (Video)

Remember Hanan? It's okay, this means that you are younger than 30! She is a light pop star from Egypt who did sing in the 80s and made life a little bit brighter for many of us. Her last song came in 1996 and then Hanan called it quits. She stayed home and did not make any appearances. That's until she got together with her manger who is also a famous talk radio host. Wael Ghaneemy persuaded Hanan to record one song and she did.

Suzan Ezaria came to the Arabic pop scene from that lovely Island known as Australia (city of Sydney)  Ezaria has been busy with music since 199--there was some acting and dancing involved. Her heritage comes from mother country Iraq.

Australia was not her end-game, she immigrated to Auckland New Zealand where Suzy took time off performing however she entered the world of teaching Assyrian youth her mother language Assyrian as she is fluent in reading and writin...g Aramaic. Rosy Turns Up The Heat For "Daket Mehbajek" Thank You @jadshwery

Rosy seems like a cool name for a bright star. This is a new music video from a new songstress, she chose to do throwback to vintage Arabic songs of the desert. She even wear the customs, and the dance moves plus all the props. I like the song, I am just turned off by the music video. It undercuts the song a bit.

While this may be a cross where Bedouin and Gypsy meet. I like her voice though I think she is afraid to change her range of voice. She stick to the comfortable middle. I like her charm here and she is comfortable with what she is doing. Unlike many female artists, sometimes they get pushed by their directors, not Rosy.

It turns out her song is an actual hit in Lebanon and in the Gulf--we have the radio to thank for this viral fame. Rosy has done songs in the past, but this is the song that can be dubbed her comeback. Jad Shwery directed Rosy and she did not disappoint. As you will see form this link, Rosy did offend some people.

Love In The Age Of Terrorism! Adam New Syria Song

Sham F.M. is becoming one of the biggest Arab radios, the sheer number of hits they play on their airwaves is incredible. Giving that they remain operational in Syria despite so much sorrow and so much destruction is something to note. Many Syrian and Lebanese artists go to this radio station with their hits because they know it's a radio that makes people happy and claims a large share of the market.

While many more Syrian artists consider it the default radio, not too many in Lebanon think of it first. But there's a new Drama about the civil war, and the song is about the general feel in Syria. The story of love and war.....but the voice is for Adam, a popular go to voice that has song some of the best TV series both in Lebanon and Egypt.

Adam's voice is something I look forward to hearing. This time, he shows off a lot more heart and force as he feel he is about to weep, but then it goes.....Not sure about the show, but it seems to glorify the Syrian army. I guess, change is good, but not the kind that want to set back the clock and revive dated teachings without regard to the spirit of the law.

I like the title of the song which is clever..."Sham" is what the locals call the capital city of Damascus, but if you change it one bit to be Sha'am it means back luck...which is fitting.

In a radio interview, the artist spoke about the story behind this song,  it was inspired by a phone conversation with his mother who told him the main line "no one knows what's in the other person's heart" Hence came this cone form the heart and it was a summer hit summer. Which is odd because moving songs like that do not often come in the summer. The song was meant to be for the summer, but summers are saved for happy go luck songs..let's dance types.

I think the sadness in Rouwaida's voice is coming from a real place, I would give her the Oscar for best moving performance. Without looking at her, you hear the woes and the sadness in her voice. Very few artists can do that, and this is harder for Rouwaida specially that she has a very strong voice. The sorrow might be coming from what she sees happen in Syria on the ground.

Syria has two first ladies--one we can all agree on. Mayada El Hennawy is her and her voice is golden.
