Egyptian Angham of 1987

She dominated the scene for three decades, she started when she was a little girl and kept on improving until she reached all her dreams. This young girl, the daughter of a seasoned musician who took her under his wings--they did not have the best father daughter relationship.

One thing, this woman can sing and can create an atmosphere for all her songs to make them sound real when others are no where near that. That's why the best lyricists and musicans in Egypt love to work with her, she brings her A game and makes their average work seems dazzling. There is no average song with Angham, there is only perfection and greatness.

When the the late 80s, most Arab singers of her age were making light pop songs and karaoke music, she was recording Tarab Arab style mellow songs/poems, one of those gems she recorded in 1987. Al Rokin Al Baaeed, the far corner. Angham tells a story of her thoughts and fears about the one she cares for.

The song tells the story so well and so magically, it describes in details when you wait for someone who does not show up! the ice in the lemonade melts away, the onlookers were curious about the person being stood up, and the sun goes away in the eye of the day...says the song.
