It Was 1970, and That Was Shadia

She is a legend, at the peak of her career she had everything a famed celebrity could wish for, welthy, fame and anything she needed was within her reach, but that was not the kind of happiness Shadia was looking for. While she made millions happy, and counties to do so till this very day, she was not happy.

She quit singing and performing in concerts, she walked away from it all and told people, I want to be left alone, I want to be Shadia the person not the celebrity. Despite her wishes, they continue to explore projects about her life--she fights anyone who wants to bring her life story to the screen. Her numerous movies told many stories and showed a very colorful side of this all Egyptian golden girl.

While she contuies to make interviews every now and then, she also collects awards and honors and engages in social life in Egypt, but she mostly keeps to herself and sticks with her hijab. You cannot deny that her work is classics in the Arab library of entertainment, her songs about school love and being a mother continue to live on. While I have a lot of favoirtes among Shadia's song, her song about traveling and leaving the motherland/the loved one behind is very real to me.
