Ahmed Mekki is a funny man who took on a rap persona in his early comedic roles in sit comes. He went for the funky look and hi hop style dress code, he talked fast and came up with one line zingers like no one else can. All of a sudden he was an instant hit and all young folks were talking about him.
Even those who do not usually enjoy Arabic movies came to love him and celebrated his work by quoting him. He released one movie in 2008, another in 2009, and a third in 2010 and all were big commercial success and all were really funny in a fresh way. The multiple persona Ahmed developed live on outside his movie and he likes to use inside jokes.
In his last two movies "Teern Inta" and "La Targo'a Wala Istislam" he shared the screen with Dina Sameer Ghanem declaring the arrival of a new duo. While they are both funny, Ahmed's writing can make any film funnier. I also happen to love his raps where he give them time to be written and developed into video. Check out this awesome rap of his about being oneself.
You can see Ahmed Mekki in Ramdan in his squeal for El Kibeer a comedy about two siblings one raised in America and another raised in small village in Egypt--the first installment was hilarious.
