Amr Mostafa was once one of the most creative Arab composers, he has always picked fights with people and has an ego the size of the world. But all that's fine, I love his music, but his politics is out of this universe, and that's not a compliment. When it comes to music, he is a household name, but since January 2011 this singer has been alienating people and insulting the intellect of the people of Egypt and the Arab world.
While he has supported Mubarak and his regime including writing songs and singing for the corrupt party in the last election of 2010. That's all fine, but his stands and his music videos paying homage to Mubarak are idiotic at best. You can relate to Mubarak, this father figure, I can understand that, but you cannot go back and re write history.
That's what Amr Mostafa does in his new song with added images and speech be the ousted dedicator. Amr is entitled to his opinion, we welcome it! But he cannot go and make up his own facts and falsify history to accommodate his half baked opinions. The song in question is "Hafaz 3ala Awlado", in English, He protected his children. The question is whose children did he protect? Also Amr uses the October card. Like if it was Mubarak who was the man behind the war. This is so laughable indeed. Amr also talks about Mubarak who brought peace to the land, but forgets that Egypt has always been the land of peace and the birth of civilization.
Most of us think Gamal and Ala'a are the only ones he looked out for. And Not the children of Egypt as Amr Mostafa alludes to. The guy stood for money, corruption and rarely spoke to the people yet alone attend to their needs. But Amr Mostafa likes to make the news, and he is one of those people who do not like to admit they were wrong which explains why he is digging himself deeper in a hole.
Amr is not alone, there are people who see eye to eye with him largely becasue they fear the unknown. But they are not as urgent and as obnoxious as he is. Is Amr Mostafa doing Mubarak any favors? maybe. I mean we know he was close to Ahmed Ezz, the guy who ran Egypt politics and business. Amr had dinner at this man's table and this man is now in jail where he belongs. Maybe Amr should get in the public relation business and get himself hired by those cronies, they still have some money.
P.S. The bombes that went off at the Egyptian churches in late 2010 killing scores of civilians moved a lot of Egyptian including Amr Mostafa who wrote a song about it. Guess what? It was the Mubarak men who plotted the attacks for political ploy.
