As you might have heard there is a siege on Gaza, high unemployment and lack of some medications. What they do not lack on in Gaza is talented musicians who usually sing at wedding parties and bachelor parties. While those singers rarely have their own songs, they sing sons from pretty much anyone and everyone in the Arab world.
The style of singing in Gaza at those parties borrows from the Syrian Sha'aby style and the Egyptian sha'aby style. Of course they also sing Palestinian songs for Dabka and group dances. They avoid political songs not to upset Hamas. They also do not do much pop songs becasue they are not supposed to dance to such songs as some might mistake you for a girl.
Khalid Al Maghary is one of those busy singers that are often booked months in advance-he is big in Gaza middle area. Ali Al Kilany and Mohammad Al Rashidy are the duo that often perform together. However Gaza based singer Samy Al Harazeen is the busiest of them all as his style and his upbeat style makes him a hot ticket. He is the Gaza city most popular performer. Samy Al Harazeen also has some of his own songs that are often big hits with the locals
Hamid Al Body another popular singer in the Northern Gaza Strip, I have seen him in action. An old school singer is Abdelshafi Al Dahnon who used to be huge in the early 90s, but not sure on his whereabouts. I have attached videos for all those singers. There are no female singers in Gaza, not the kind of party singers anyway. There might be some female musicians, but as far as singers, I cannot name one.
