FayrouZ Karawya, Egypt's Indie Girl

Egypt has some many awesome singers including many capable female singers that have the voice, the looks and the charisma to make it big. I think there is space for one more female singers in Egypt to launch her career and make some fine entertainment. That person has a name Fayrouz Karawya.

Fayrouz Karawya has virtually little name recognition outside Egypt and she does not get much coverage, but that's about to change with her new single about the streets of Egypt that took in the revolutionaries who have made those streets of the capital as their home for 18 days.

This is a lounge song with some jazz influence and Egyptians melodies that serve the singers stunning vocals. The singer is working on her album to be released late this year. But I think with vocals like these, Fayrouz Karawya might have making big steps in the right direction. A long way from the little girl that sang and was helped by a nun who loved her voice and took interest in Fayrouz's career

Her son is about dignity, not compromise and taking a loaf of bread in exchange of dignity. Poet Ramy Yihya wrote the lyrics and he did really well painting those images. the music video goes from shots on the singer performing the song into slideshows of the 18 days and the attacks on the protesters.
