Jello Biafra "Kill The Poor" Right For The Arab Spring

Dead Kennedys - Kill The Poor (Lyrics in Description Box)

Jello Biafra, the American singer turned activist has always had a heart--even when he was in a band know as the Dead Kennedys. I was thinking about American songs that deal with issues pertaining to the poor of the world, and then I ran into this song that puts is so well.

I have written about Jello in the context of Palestine / Israel, now I see him in different light. A song that speaks to the best in us about the worst in us. This should be the song of choice for the 99 percent of the people.

As Jello Biafra once sang:

Efficiency and progress is ours once more
Now that we have the Neutron bomb
It's nice and quick and clean and gets things done
Away with excess enemy
With no less value to property
No sense in war but perfect sense at home...
The sun beams down on a brand new day
No more welfare tax to pay
Unsightly slums gone up in flashing light
Jobless millions whisked away
At last we have more room to play
All systems go to kill the poor tonight
Gonna Kill Kill Kill Kill
Kill the poor...Tonight
Behold the sparkle of champagne
The crime rate's gone, feel free again
Oh life's a dream with you, Miss Lily White
Jane Fonda on the screen today
Convinced the liberals it's okay
So let's get dressed and dance away the night
While they...Kill Kill Kill Kill
Kill the poor...Tonight
The sun beams down on a brand new day
