Mc Dahab is Egypt's youngest rapper with that comes his passion to change things he does not like. The Idealism of the young can be heard throughout his music. He wrote about his life, his demons, and his beloved father. He really does a super job in channeling his emotions.
MC Dahab can do that becasue he writes his own lyrics. He does not hire someone to do the important job. So his energy in his delivery comes from the magic of his words, the words that he writes out of an experience. I admire that and I think this is a gift very few Egyptian performers have. I think for this song to be fair, both men and women need to deliver their end of the bargain. Modesty can go both ways and should not be used as a tool for punishment.
This time around, Mc Dahab is taking on a provocative matter, women who are dressed immodestly. This is an issue that Egypt often deals with, guys can also be at fault and often they are the ones who are wronging others. However, Mc Dahab is performing this song as a conversation with someone whom he is concerned for.
I had to really think about this song for a while before I wrote this, becasue this is Mc Dahab's darkest song yet to date. It's from someone who is frustrated what what he sees yet does not approve of. This is a big topic, but as a song it speaks volumes of the feelings many like MC Dahab have--young, passionate yet can do little to change things around.
I look forward to hearing more from MC and possibly buying an album sometimes soon.
Mc Dahab = يا أختــى
