"La Younsa" Album Somethings Are Meant To Defy Time

Meet the trio of The Serwan Yamolky. performs traditional Arabic music while fusing modern elements of improvisation and composition. The group has been performing
together since 2009 with Serwan Yamolky on vocals and oud (Middle Eastern
lute), Liam MacDonald on riq (Arabic tambourine) and Tim Gerwing on darbuka
(ceramic hand drum).

The group has recently finished recording their new album La Younsa, Arabic for Not Forgotten, released in January of 2012. The ensemble is based in Canada and has often toured in North America. This is a very personal style of music that brings me together with my old man and his old man. Listening to this timeless music will sure be like a family reunion for at least three generations in my family.

Their music makes everything better as Arabic poetry comes to life if read to the tunes The Serwan Yamolky. So in a nutshell, if you want something very Eastern and distinctly Arabic checkout the CD, it can be found on iTunes.
