Saad Marouk is a creative fella, with that comes the weird and the bizarre, the man who by his own words is a dictator in his work. So when he approach him, you have to submit to his vision. So when Fares Karam got a new song he was excited about, Saad was out there and then those two guys came together.
On the upside, the music video is awesome as it's new concepts and has never been done before. There is so much surrealism in it, something that ought to be celebrated. There's some way cool spacial affects, some of Hollywood's finest tricks are not out of the director's reach. The submerged scenes are a first time thing. And so was the firs tracks and affects. Clearly, he had a bold vision vision.
On the downside, this is not the right song to execute that vision. First Fares Karam looks very healthy and he seems to be working out a lot at the gym which is great for the song. Second, the models are weird, and they look too thin to be some guys' hot woman. Third, the song is about a passionate lover who would do anything to get his gal. Yet, she is abusing and torturing him. Again, the cinematography is dazzling, but for an Arab music video it might be too new of a thing--thus making it weird for many.
Fares has been talking up this music video and saying this is a new side of him, sure he was right. It showed this man who has been a womanizer throughout his songs as a guy who can take it for love. However, the lyrics of the song might have too much "Lebanon talk" in them. He is talking about killing dudes and giving him their heads to proof his love but yet we are not in the 15 hundreds, it's 2011.
