Laila Ghofran, Another Moroccan Lady in Egypt

Laila Ghofran is one of the half dozen Moroccan singers who call Egypt their second home. This lady of Arabic blues and romance, making hr career in the late 90s with her flawless cover of Abdel Halim Hafiz old classic songs. Then she ventured into pop and blues.

Few years ago she daughter was murdered in Egypt and the trial has handed a death sentence to the man linked to the crime, but I read that there are others involved (higher ups), since then Laila has released a very sad song about how much in pain she has endured.

And this Ramadan month, we got a religious songs asking for redemption and seeking strength from the sky above. While Laila's voice has always been a solid A, her choice of songs has not been always so. The song plays like a daraweesh song, a form of spiritual music where dance is part of the worship. Can I get a Hallelujah?
