Tamim Barghouti, The Palestinian Egyptian Poet

Tamim has not returned to the States in some time. He was teaching in some American university and then he went back to Cairo to be with his family and work with some UN arm that works in promoting culture. He is a good candidate as he is a commentator and a well known one on cultural issues pertaining to Arabs.

Tamim has teamed up with Qabila TV in a poetry reading about the people of Egypt and history with ruthless rulers. For fans of history, they are in for a treat. The poem chronicles the history of old and modern Egypt.

The slideshow accompanying the poetry reading is also touching. The video comes as a tribute for the revolution in Egypt in its first anniversary. While Tamim is well know around the world for his fiery work in Arabic poetry. Egypt has been his home since he was a little boy as his mother is Egyptian and his old man is Palestinian.

This video is like a history channel documentary only hipper and more interesting to watch. The energy and stories brought by Tamim are hard to match as he switched from classical Arabic to Egyptian dialect.

@QabilaTv يا شعب مصر ... مع تميم | قبيلة
