Old school Bedouin style singing is back, the favorite style of legendary Lebanese singer Samira Tawfik in the 70s and 80s is not making a huge come back on the hands of Najwa Karam, Faris Karam, Assi Hillani and a score of new singers who feel comfortable covering this style that requires a very strong voice that can tell stories of the desert, a rough environment.

This singing style is very popular in Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Jordan, and certain pockets in Egypt where Bedouin families reside. The sure subjects of this style of singing brings out references to things like the sun, directions, passion, horses, swords, poets, tribes all to celebrate this pure innocent love using simple language.

The newst star to take on this type of singing is Samarah Al Samahra who presents his 100 Hala song, I like his voice for sure. I enjoyed the traditional dresses, the tents, the sunset. He has the presentation and the energy such songs require. This is sort of our country music, simple langauge of every day life to describe an often complicated love affair. Good job
