Salwa El Katrib Lives On & On

Salwa El Katrib "Qatrib, Qatreeb" was the hottest girl in the 70s, she is our golden girl of Arabia. Every Arab man wanted to see her, every Arab producer wanted to be in the Salwa El Katrib business. Sadly, many of us do not know the women that stands behind a number of popular and timeless Arabic songs that any Arab star wishing to make a name for themselves would cover. This year alone, Elissa "here", Carole Samah, and Rami Shamali have all covered some of Salaw's songs. Years after years, more Arab listeners get to experience the wonderful songs of Salwa El Katrib.

Unfortunately, Salwa is no longer with us, she passed away few years ago. But her music and warm voice, mild manners and archive will survive her. Not to forget her musical plays which she started in her home country Lebanon. Of course Salwa had gifted musicians and writers help make her stardom.

No wonder scores of Arab singers are unearthing her work and chasing each other to cover her songs. They just do not offer those emotions, and lyrics anymore. But most of all very few Arab voices can offer what Salwa offered with her soothing voice, that puts you at peace and literary teleports you to where the singer wants you to go like she did in Khodni Ma'ak. She is a lady all around, all the way from the time when people believed in magic.
