Mohamed Aref is young and that's what it takes, a young man who is unafraid to speak up. He calls it as it's. No need to sugar coat it and blame conspiracies and spies for the death of the people in Cairo and around Egypt.
While he is not a house name by any account, he had had a number of romantic songs you can easily find online. But his song for Egypt is worth every second of it. Martyr in a Trash Bin, is the name of the song. In a country where the martyr is thrown in the trash bin and those who belong to the trash bin are being called His Excellency. Some bold words really.
But that's not all, he even says those army officers think that the people are sheep, worthless lives and thus they go and shoot them to kill. This is a rushed song, but it managed to capture the steam of the moment and to me it sounds coming form the heart. Aref opens the song with "We Are Not Done Yet". I must say Aref has more courage than most Egyptian entertainers. I pray he will be safe--we are for this guy.
