Music in Egypt's Election Spreads The Message

Leading Egyptian party Al Wafed, is caught in controversy of great musical proportion. As they are just wrapping up a huge defeat in the parliamentarian election. They have won zero seats, and now they are blaming it on the singer.

Folklore singer Mohammad Nouh had this old song of his that he recorded for the Al Wafed party, it played on TV combined with messages from the party and images of the people. Now, they have pulled out the ad and are considering a new media strategy.

According to Nouh's daughter, he did not authorize the use of the song, he was quoted to have said, this song was meant for the old Wafed party, not the one you see now. Not to forget that firebrand composer and singer Amr Mostafa used to write music for the National Democratic Party--the party of Mubarak . He did it for their 2010 election.
