Egyptian Stars Take a Pay cut

The Mubarak regime was good for these guys, but now the party is over and these guys need to cut back on spending and buying extra homes and fancy vacations. They are all reducing their fees, but not to worry and go start a fund to save those entertainers, they are doing just fine.
  1. Adel Imam took a reported pay cut of 10 million Egyptian pound for his role in his upcoming Ramadan TV drama. Not a big deal really, still making a cool 20 million Egyptian pounds for the role. The highest TV salary in the history of Arab entertainment.
  2. Settling for 15 million Egyptian pounds instead of his contractual 27 million Egyptian pounds, Egyptian singer turned actor Tamer Hosny still doing ok for his role in a TV drama to be released during the holy month of Ramdan. Ramdan is supposed to be about spirituality not sissy boys with hairy chests. This will be Hosny's first venture into TV drama after a serious of commercially successful movies.
  3. Taking in 19 million Egyptian pounds instead of 25 million Egyptian pounds, comic relief actor Mohammad Hendy to appear in the TV comedy role filmed in Paris about a small town teacher, adapted from a previous film for the actor. This guy might be short, but he is never short on cash.
  4. Elham Sheen, the popular seasoned actress reduced her fee for 3 million Egyptian pounds instead of 5. It's a TV drama about a corrupt government minister...how timely.
  5. The Mubarak groupie Ghada Abdel Razik who is on many black lists now will reduce her fee from 7 million Egyptian pounds to 4 million Egyptian pounds. She was the most vocal supporter of Mubarak.
That's a total of 40 million Egyptian pounds in reduction and pay cuts...I bet they now wish they have not said all the stupid things they have. If you look carefully those are the same actors who voiced their support to Mubarak and lost their best. So you know there are people who do not like them and many who hate them. Will that affect the quality of their work no! But it will affect the budget and investors won't feel putting in extra money for those projects that might tank.

Another thing, why are actresses are paid a lot less than their male peers? Look at the numbers and see the compensation difference. This should not be right, it's a shame that male actor that actually not that funny to begin with get paid a lot more than the females.
