Rowida Attiah, the Syrian runner up for season 1 of Super Star, the Arab show that made it big in early 2000 and helped bring half a dozen of Arab singers. She has one of those rare qualities, grace. She has a strong personality, outgoing and posses one of the most refined voices in the Arab world now.
She reminds me of the voice of the legendary folk singer Samira Tawfik know for her distinct Lebanese style. Rowida has two albums to her credit, and is a very popular artist for concerts. She truly can sing without the help of playback, and karaoke music. She is very secure and commended respect from people in the business and appreciates of good Arabic music made today but sounds like a attribute to older ones.
Rowida is not one of those stars that make a new song every month, or a music video every few months. She feels the music and brings it to live with her voice and her amazing persona. So you know she is not the kind that chases journalists to write stuff about her. She does not make up gossips and start feuds with her fellow singers.
Her latest album came more than two years ago and it was well received, it has a range of musician styles, but the themes remain similar, love, betrayal and being honest in a relationship. If you want dance songs, you will find them there and be impressed, want a good cry, she got you too.
Watch this interview conducted by Elaph with this charismatic singer as she was in photo shot for some Arab publication.
