Upbeat, faced paced, powerful, energizing, timely, touching are all words that come up to my mind as I listened to the first 45 seconds of this track of Ihab Tawfik, the Egyptian singer. There has been dozens of mellow love songs for Egypt in the wake to the demonstrations in Tahrir and all Egyptian cities and towns.
The second half of the song, you are proud to be Egyptian as the song takes a turn and counts the virtues of Egypt and being born there. Ehab makes a smart move who was quite throughout the whole ordeal, but he has not missed it entirely, this makes his second song for Egypt. Ihab is not the only star here, there is the famed soccer player Mohammad Barakat who stars this music video. speaking of soccer players, where have they been all this time?
Ihab is one of the few songs of Egypt that actually made it big outside that country before the age of the internet and satellite TV, so you know he got some help from the State TV which explains his silence. But when you feel inspired, you do something and Ihab Tawfik is not different. I appreciate his call for civil responsibilities and urging people not to harm public properties.
