An Algerian Sings For Egypt! Big Deal

Fola is an Algerian singer with a voice can be wrapped in gold. She was banned from singing in Egypt for years, they kept denying her visa to Egypt. Algeria does not always love Egypt and they hate it when the play soccer, but at the end of the day those are tow big Arabic countries in North Africa.

So she got Essam Karika, the Egyptian know for his funky songs, but known to a lesser extend for his musical compositions to write the music for here I am coming home song. The song is titled "I Miss You Egypt" I must say it's not a terrible song, it just does not move you.

On one level, it's cool and catchy, you like it and enjoy the stories fola tells about traveling in Egypt and enjoying a good time. But those things all feel old and over used. We have heard them in Nawal Zoghby song this year, Mohammad Foad had other songs and so did Dalida. But in away this is still a new song that does a something of a peace offering.

Again Fola has a great voice and she has done songs in pretty all Arabic dialect. She came to my attention in 2011 in that duet she made with Waleed Tawfeek when she sang in awesome French.
