When first now folks singer Mohamed Rushdie started his career over the Egyptian radio, they mocked him. They are the mainstream singers, and the elite voices that had everything. They thought he was doing art a de-service by bringing in new audience to tune in. The lower class folks loved Mohamed Rushdie.
He was the kind who would sing in the street with dancers and people from all walks of life surround him. Now the call him a legend, but then they media was not too kind to him and to his folksy style--Sha'abi.
