Iraqi king of blues Saadoun Jaber did wonders for Iraqi music, he made it mainstream back on the early TV. The Arabs in the Gulf, and the West and in between adored this man who was, what you see is what you get.
Now the living legend Saadoun is getting a hip makeover by Syrian singer Rouwaida Attieh, the runner up on Super Star music competition. I thought she has been missing in action, but in this interview, she talks about her new album which she has been recording. That's the best thing she can do, she is Syrian and Syria is on fire right now.
The Saadoun Jabir song she chose to cover, is dedicated for moms-especially her own. It's a touching song for a son to his mother...now will be a song from a daughter to her mother. The preview is included in the video for Ya Oumi! Like Saadoun, Rouwaida has what it takes vocally speaking
She also has a tour in the US and Canada, let's hope she makes a stop in DC or even Virginia. Another thing about Rouwaida, she has not made many music videos...music videos cost a lot of money--that's if you want them to be good.
