Any casual listeners of Arabic music knows this to be true, Asala can sing with those wrapped in gold flexible vocals of hers, nothings hold her back. But good voice does not mean that you can be a commercial success, at least not always.
So being hip was is key to making a killing in the business. So comes this odd titled song by Asala, "Yo, Crazy, I am no Laila--the Arab Juliet", It had that lovely Spanish guitar and awesome scenic, the horse and the crazy lovey dancerhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif. Rotana produced this song and Tarik Al Arian was the director, he is now Asala Nasri's husband.
So we know the lyrics and the music are winners, but I think the producer golden touches on this song made it even better, as the way the music is arranged made this song. I remember being in high school and this song was hard to miss, they even made fun of it on radio, TV and theater--that makes it mainstream in more ways that one can count.
The song has been replicated by so many Arabic singers, few of them made it as far as this song has. Asalah even has tried years later to borrow from this song of hers in her song Fein Habibi.
