It's not secret that filthy rich Arabs in the UAE and Saudi Arabia are bombing Yemen to the dark ages. It's also a documented fact that many innocent Yemenis have perished as a result of this ill-fated war on that magical land that's Yemen.

Now one of the biggest artists in the Khaleej who comes from the UAE is Hussien Al Jassmi and he has a new song for the same country that his own government is bombing. Let's us not forget that dozens of good people from the UAE got killed in this war--because they suck as this war thing.

Hussain AlJassmi has also released a new song for the UAE government and army to offer them support as they wage war on the helpless people of Yemen. I have an idea for the UAE--Iran has been occupying your three islands for decades now, why not wage war on them? Or is it that Yemen is an easy target?

Hussain professes his love for Yemen and its people. But what he does not tell us is that his love means he would support them being bombed.

The Poor Millioner Pop Song Gets An Indie Makeover

Cairokee front man is giving a new lease on life for one once popular cult classic song. The song was originally by Medhat Saleh in the late 80s, it's about being happy despite being poor.  It was a cool song then and still relevant today. Medhat Saleh is still making great pop songs in addition to his live tarab performances.

The Egyptian has a new odd friend front man for Cairokee, Amer Eid who took it upon himself to do a cover for this classic and pay homage to this first-rate pioneer in pop songs. It's a fun and funny song that depicts the sense of humor many young people have where they are able to find joy despite not having the means.

Omran Salem Fills Me With Sadness And Shame #Palestine #GazaUnderAttack

Now that all Palestine is revolting.....here's a song that inspires one to cry. 

This is a new song recorded by the son of Nablus Salem Omran, it's a song that should full every Arab with shame, and every Palestinian with sadness. A song that asks the Lord to come to the rescue and about the land of conflicts, but the artist does one clever thing, he includes footage of Egyptian talking heads talking shit on Palestine. There are sad times, there's only God, no brother no support from assholes. I think this is sad because this will for sure push the people of Gaza to radicalism. Salem did a great job here with his voice that's filled with humility and sadness. His voice promises many and delivers a lot more.

I know Israel is in the wrong--they just murdered four boys playing soccer on the beach, the images are too graphic. They say they are moral, and I hope they better not believe it.

This actually maybe good as the people of Gaza will learn to fend for themselves, and be resourceful and create something out of nothing. The lyrics are soft, but they have been written by Qassim Al Najjar the loudest folksy singer in Palestine. No matter what Egypt is always going to be close to us, not the regime of right now. Let's remember, it was the Egyptian administration who turned in Gaza to the Israelis in 1967. Palestinians at that time were banned from having guns.... and now people like Okasha and Amr Mostafa, they are enjoying the murder of Palestinians.

The Sweet Rita Samaan Meets The Resourceful Sherif Hamdy

This is creepy when you see a classic film that features all the big legends of Arabic cinema and songs with the voice of another young and coming vocalists. Here are old images and videos from well-known films, and a new song.

Rita is Lebanese and Sherif is Egyptian and together they made the sweetest deut I heard all year. Not sure how these two artists got together, but I am glad they did. Romantic songs are never out of style, and with voices like these, I am glad they did this song.

I am more impressed by Rita's voice here, she is certainly the new comer. Sherif is a music composer too, and a producer so he brings a lot to the table.

The Yemenis Are Coming! Habib Galbi Occupies Tel-Aviv

Israelis do not like many things Arab, but I know they enjoy using bad Arabic words, taking credit for Arabic favorites food, smoking hookah and now Arabic songs. In face for a long time, Israelis have embraced Arabic songs because many of them have lived in Arabic speaking countries like Yemen, Iraq, Tunis and Morocco.

This last summer it seems one song recorded and performed by three ladies from Yemeni origin has won over the peace-loving (wink...wink) Israelis. The lyrics sound like a folklore from Yemen, the music sounds like anything but.   

The surprise hit Habib Galbi - performed by a band of three Israeli sisters of Yemeni background named A-WA - managed to rise to the top of this country’s music charts, shattering records and all expectations. The song has also proven a major success abroad, with the music video amassing 1.2 million hits and attracting thousands of fans from across the Middle East.

The song is actually based on a tune that the group’s grandmother - who was born in Ibb, Yemen, but moved to Israel in 1949 - taught them, and for sisters Tair, Liron and Tagel singing it was the most natural thing in the world.

But this summer marks the first time in Israeli history that an Arabic-language song has managed to top the charts, and its positive reception across borders in countries Israel has been at war with for nearly 70 years has many experts wondering if the song is a sign of a cultural thaw and hope amid the increasingly bleak political landscape across the region.

I like Ehab, I know he is trying to make a living in the music business. So here's his latest single where it feels like a house song--something that was cool six years ago. But wait, the song takes a different direction 45 seconds in. I like it. The song has a faith rich title--nothing is too impossible for God. It's a song about an artists who is waiting for a miracle in love or career.

Ehab returns to his original style and tabs into his emotional reservoir. He does a decent job bringing out the sweetness and the hurt he has been feeling. It's a song that announces that he is nothing without his loved one. He is longing for that loved one, while his vocal performances is stunning, the music arrangement is confusing?

Meet "The Octopus Of The Oud" Abadi El Johar

He has the coolest titel among his Arab pears, he goes by "the octopus of the lute-oud" How cool is that? Abadi El Johar, also goes by another title "the ambassador of sorrow" because his brings a man closer to his tears. But his skills to play the oud is something not to ignore. He is a master in this and I love how cool his ouds tend to be. He owns 51 of them all at home and each of them serves a purpose.

Abadi El Johar is a Saudi and he has been singing, but he also likes to read old Arabic poetry and study the history. How did he decide to sing? A really personal story, his mom was being seein in hospitals in Egypt and since they spent a great deal of money on the visits to the hospitals, Abadi took an offer to sing in Egypt paying him a 1000 Egyptian pound. that allowed him to support himself while caring for his mother.

He wrote a dozne of songs and music for a list Arab pop stars among whom Asalah Nasri, Samira Said, Abbas Ibrahim, Aseel Omaran and not to forget the legendary Talal Maddah. Here is the man performing one of his songs live. No wonder he is a king-maker of Gulf music and his fane and respect has traveled outside the gulf where most of his focus has been.

Back To School! The Best Music Videos With Schools!

September is the month to go back to school, for everyone else it's the Fall season and pumpkin time. I wanted to explore Arabic songs that take place in school--there are so many of them really. I just wanted to share them with you from my memory. These songs are classics and and some of them were part of films. What's curious is that Egyptian pop star Mohammad Fouad has two songs in this group.

I think this is a bittersweet moment for me, as I have not gone to school for a long time and I remember the best part about it it being one with old friends and favorite teachers. The Syrian legend, the lute player, the composer, the singer, and the heart breaker who is unlike no other, Farid al-Atrash is a big deal. He is not for everyone out there, but those who truly appreciate him, know good and authnitic voice and melody when they hear it. You have to reach a certain level of zen to begin to connect with Farid. To be honest, as a young boy, I did not think the he was that great, but then a uncle of mine whom we used to work together kept playing his songs.

Years later, I am a fan. He is also an accomplished actor with box office movies that have outlived the oldest person in your family. Here' are ten of his better known songs--try hundreds of them. His stature is too big and his career is too long to condense on one YouTube video, but this is a great start that will introduce you to this hardcore Arab singer. Keep on mind, his own sister was also a singer and have had a tragic life--Asmahan.

The entire family has a royal blood, and their music has made them kings of their time. Farid al-Atrash was not too keen on getting married--he has always argued that marriage kills the art. He passed away in 1974 after struggling with his heart--for the last 30 years of his life he had issues with it. He passed away in a Lebanese hospital in Beirut--after two days from returning to London. The legend was buried in Cairo.

Souad Hosny is Egyptian film actress who was one of the most influential Middle-Eastern actresses in the 1960s. She received her first movie role in the 1959 film Hassan and Na’ima.

Many spoke of her free-spirit, reflected in her natural smile, and her bashful spirit. Her reputed shyness in real life contrasted highly with her television presence, which was filled with life and vigor. Her soft beauty struck and inspired many artists.

The Egyptian radio has a phone call on the record for Abdel Halim Hafez where he called from his hospital bed here in Washington according to the story I read. But the beloved hit-maker and romantic treasurer was undergoing treatment for Bilharzia in King's College Hospital, London.

You hear him say he was returning to Egypt in ten days, he sounded upbeat and excited. "I am well, and good" The call shed some light on the details of his treatment where he was getting injections at 5 Am and other treatments, he kept to the hospital and walked around. This was the day of the Eid and they called to wish him well.

The Brilliant Iraqi Song By UTN1 Is A Crowd-pleaser @HASSAN_UTN1 @UTN1_Band

The sweet thing about UTN1 as a band is that they are well-versed in Iraqi music. While they make their earth-shattering original songs that travel far and long, they pay homage to other gifted musicians from their motherland. The band takes the music from Iraq seriously and makes sure to perform along side Iraqi music icons.  

The music is Ismail Farwji and the song is an original from another Iraqi hit-maker Adel Okla. I know that UNT1 has performed with both artists here in the States. This time, they get to collaborate with both at once. Here's a new cover by the decent human beings and artists who make up UTN1 band. A song where they breath a new life into a lovable hit. Bringing an classic into anew era with new instruments. But unlike many artists, they band gave credit where credit is due.

A song about uncertainly of what comes next, will the days change us or will they change our love? No one knows, and the song speaks about just that, let's stay together as love grows with time. The song is about keeping up promises to those who smile and those who make us perfect. The music is pretty catchy and invites more people to tune in in this speed-obsessed generation. What works is that the band has at least three vocalist whose collective voices speak to different tastes, allowing them to cater to more listeners.

In other news, UTN1 will perform at a beauty pageant for Arab-Americans in the coming weeks, I hope more people see them live and come to appreciate their talent, their class and their richness of Iraqi music.

Sadly, Moustafa Amar Releases Another Disappointing Song "Eyon Mashala"

Can we still teach an old dog new tricks? Not many would say yes, and those who say yes, know it will take some time. This is the feeling I got listening to yet another sub-par song by the wonder boy of the 90's pop Moustafa Amar.

The sad reality, this is his second single this summer and not one good hit. Same old crap and club music that has been tired since a decade ago. I like the stuff Amar did, but I think it's becoming harder for him to maintain his position as a lead pop star. He once was the number one artists in sales and in concerts. But he has been nowhere to be seen for about a decade.

He tried to work with new crew, still it does not look good and it does not sound that exciting. If he is trying to do songs for the younger folks--maybe they like this song I do not know. But the fans who know him best (and familiar with his amazing hits), are not impressed.

He does not have to retire, should he try something different? Join a hip band? Be a judge on one of these singing competitions? Or perhaps, work with the old crew who loves his past perfromances, and want to inject some fresh air into his career.

Lebanese Abel Karim Shaaer, The Voice For Arabic Oldies Throwbacks

There singers who make pop songs, and there are who like to revisit what once was a pop song, only years after that they became classical songs. One of these artists is Abdel Karim Shaar, A Lebanese vocalist who like to do songs form the forties and fifties.

His voice was made from doing the Mowashahat style songs, the Syrian, Iraqi and Andalusia style of singing. There's no money in this art, but there is a lot of recognition and interest, so cafes and lounges fro Arab intellects. He is a Lebanese artist who has an old soul and rocks the bow-tie look.

Mr. Shaar has been singing for generations, only not as many people know of him outside the fans of the musicals style he performs, he has that very manly strong voice that can do the forte without coming across as shouting.
