The Voice Has Little Voice # MBCTheVoice

Mahmoud Abeidah started a bidding war on the Voice. The young singer did an impressive cover for an beloved Arabic song that sent the judges to fight with each other with hands. It seems that Sherine liked this guy first and wanted him to be on her team, but Assi Hillani wanted him as well but Sherine won't let him press that button.

Saber El Robaei also wanted him on his team, but still Sherine fought for him and won. Sherine added Mahoud to her lineup of artists despite all the interest from the other judges. Meanwhile, Syria, Yemen, Iraq, Libya and Palestine are not doing well and losing young men and women every minute.

But Sherine was grateful, she thanked God for allowing her to get this talent on her side. He is a good singer with a nice voice. I am not sure what is his story, but he hails form Egypt and he does look like every other young Arab man and woman in the Arab streets. The song he did a cover for is a track form Fayza Ahmed's.

Facebook and YouTube Get Their Own Songs (Videos)

We are all suckers for social media, yes many of us have an addiction to them. But not these two ladies who released two songs celebrating YouTube and Facebook.  Oumnia did a song for YouTube and her voice is pretty decent, so she can do better songs than this one. It's a romantic song where YouTube comes up.

The next song is by Mai Khayat who woke up only to head to her Facebook profile to check what's happening. Again, neither of these artists are A list artists, nor are they B, but their songs travelled well and thanks to Filfan, I got to hear about them. I am glad someone is watching these songs and music videos. In between the uploads and the updates, this is a whole different universe.

Oh, Janna! Amr Diab Teenage Daughter Sings Now!

So what her did the king of Arabic pop, but for Egyptian Janna, the daughter of the world-famous pop star singing is all in the genes. While it's true that Amr Diab had a song named after her in his last album. The teen wants to be a star of her own so she took to social media to perform a song in English.

She even speaks English not Arabic as if the world is watching. I do not have any comments on her voice or her talent, but Janna is hardly the first family member of a well--know singer to enter the business.

This Saudi Physicans/ Singer @DRmohabomar Will Cure Your Soul With His Music

There's a famous Arabic physician who has stopped doing surgeries and operation on his patients to do a comedy show. And now there's another awesome physician who is perusing his other talents aside from caring for his patients.  Paging Dr. Mohab Omer from Saudi Arabia, Jeddah to a YouTube screen near you.

His soothing voice, calm style will put you at ease as he sings his latest song. It's people like Dr. Omer who bring about change, they do it slowly and certainly without alienating anyone. I simply found out about him because a cousin of mine who studied in Malaysia put up his link from his home in Gaza, and I picked it up here in the United States of A.

Egyptian Dude Cross-Dresses And Dances Like Ballerina (Video)

In some random neighborhood in Egypt, some guy dressed like a ballerina and danced his tail off to some loud music. This is so unreal and so random but props to the guy who joined in the party and danced along that dude.

I think some people were confused how could such a thing happen? I know even in Western countries male Ballerinas are a joke. This took place in "Al Mojama'a Al Khamis" and it looks like a big party took place as more people joined in the dance. Little is known about this ballerina, he might be up to something.

X Factor Adham Nablusi Denied Entry To Lebanon @AdhamNabulsi

Officials at Beirut International airport have denied entry to the young Jordanian singer Adham Nabulsi. It's such a bizarre incident as Adham has lived in Lebanon during his time on X Factor which he ended up being the most successful participant. It's unclear why they would do such a thing, but Adham shared on his Facebook a picture of his Jordanian passport and said that he was denied entry and was kept for 4 hours at the airport. He says it was because he visited Palestine. Adham has already made it clear he does not have any Israeli stamps on his passport--an excuse often used by some government.

Adham did have a concert in the West Bank and he did mange to visit the holy sites in Jerusalem. Adham did have a tour in Palestine where he performed in a number of venues and helped bring some joy into the life of many struggling with Israel's occupation.

A number of Lebanese celebrities and commentators have already offered the young artists their solidarity and support. They too think it's bizarre that their own government would deny this young artists entry as he is neither a terrorist nor does he have ill-well.

So far we have yet to hear a comment from the Lebanese officials, my money that they would come out, apologize and say they made a mistake.

Attieh Teams With Anthony Touma For Kol Leila #DWTS #Summer

Anthony Touma from Lebanon and Mohammad Attieh from Egypt got together on Dancing with the Stars where they competed for the title--each with a female dance partner. The two dudes took their relationship to the next level by doing the next logical thing. Attieh is a guy who won Super Star--Star Academy a decade ago. Anthony Touma appeared on the MBC Voice. Since both of them are singers by profession, they just released a song.

The new song is in both Arabic and English with a hint of Spanish. I like the song, it's done well and it doe not feel all over the place. These are two cool friends making a song together. Everyone brings his A game to this Arabic-English track. A nice attempt at a party song for the summer that keeps up the temperature low.

Myriam Fares' "Aman" Turns Islamic Music Hertiage Into A Freak Show "Video"

Myriam Fares turned a heritage song that's more than 500 years old into some freak show. The song is Aman from the Islamic music heritage in Andalusia. A song beloved by many mystic Muslims and a tool for worship among some groups like the Sufis.

Enter the stage Myriam Fares who for some stage reason choose to re-record the song and title her album "Aman" All is fine and okay until you get a chance to look at this mess of a music video released by Myriam Fares. I do not know what to make of it. She is doing her suggestive dance thing and dressed in some of the strangest outfits.

This will go down as one of the weirdest music videos in the Arab memory. Then how about that beach scene and swim suit? I would be insulted by I know Myriam Fares' head is not in the right place.

I am not one of those people who attacked the re-recorded version, I do not mine the song itself or Myriam Fares' take on it. I just am not that into the music video.

Tamer Hosny & Bassma Boussil Blessed With Another Baby Girl

Tamer Hosny, the manly pop stat who romantic songs continue to define music form the Middle East region is a father all over again. The Egyptian hit-maker and his Tunisian retired pop star Bassma Bousil are now the proud parents of baby Amaya!

May third, folks is when Tamer and Bassma received their bundle of joy. This is the second child for the celebrity couple after their baby girl Talia. The cool thing about Tamer Hosny, the parent he is very protective of his family especially his kids. I do not think we have any good pictures of the couple with their girls. I respect that. Also not much has been seen of heard from Bassma since she married the pop star. We can only assume that she is happy with her comfortable lifestyle.

Tamer and Bassma keep away form public events and functions where media and journalists attend. In other news, Tamer is on his European tour right now where he is set to preform in France, Sweden, Belgium, Holland, England, Germany and Austria.

Surprise! Elissa Sings A Palestinian Song For The Arab Motherland (Video)

Elissa is not know for her highs sense of patriotism, she has done a song for Lebanon--some say it may have come too late. But when it comes to other Arab countries she could care less. That's changing though, it might be the Elissa 3.0 phase. Yesterday she shared on Twitter a message thart implies she has found the one and she has fallen in love.

Now comes a surprise out of the blue, she is singing a popular anthem, that was written be Palestinian poet Ibrahim Tokan. The poem dates back to 1934 and was composed by Lebanese composer Mohammad Flyfil. this was the national anthem for Palestine, before it was changed. Then it was the national anthem for Iraq. Syrians love the song and so do Lebanese, it's about the homeland and people wanting to see it live in peace prosperity. It's a perfect dreamer song as we witnessed the madness sweeping through the Middle East.

Elissa has done well in romance and dance songs for more than a decade, but this time she is doing something a lot bigger than she has done and the internet went crazy for this surprise that seeks and promote freedom. I like this side of her, she is not anti anything, but pro all good things.

Sandy's Fun Day With Freinds On Her Birthday

Sure, it might be narcissistic but this seems the age we live in. And Sandy is one of the prophets for this era. She celebrated her birthday with friends and she shared a video with the fans. There's nothing more than a group of young women giggling nonsense.

I like the ride they were on, it seems to be scary for a minute. But it appears the Egyptian pop star enjoys living life on the edge. I guess this video is only part one, there will be part 2! In this age pop stars feel that we must know about aspects of their lives, not just the music.

Amr Mostafa Won't Compose For Amr Diab EVER Again!

Amr Diab does not need anybody, he is the king. He does not have to make good music, he has made enough and plenty. Firecracker and hack music composer Amr Mostafa felt the need to share on his Facebook account So out of the blue he had this to say

  1. I do not have Amr Diab phone number
  2. I have not spoken to him in more than four years
  3. I do not have any beef with the pop star
  4. I have no other accounts but this page
  5. I do not want people to like/hate me
  6. I won't work with Amr Diab again
  7. I will always respect him as a big brother
Glad he sorted this out for us. Amr Mostafa has not made a good song in more six years....so made that popular stolen song that ushered in the reign of the Egyptian army old farts dictators. Let us remember that in between 1999 and 2005 Amr Mostafa has composed the music for about a dozen of Amr Diab songs--most of them were hits.

Breaking News: Salah Entertainer Wins Arabs Got Talent!

He took home the title and beat dozens of other acts that are not limited to singing. The judges adored Salah Entertainer who brought in his show and did something very different. He got people to laugh without saying a word, it's just finny shoes noise and some movements.

He dances, does gymnastics and a dozen other tricks up his sleeve. Something else this Salah guy, and he is ready for prime time. About time to see something kid friendly win this title. He is a cool Algerian-Moroccan act that brighten the day. The 4th season went home West, and this is why Salah got the move votes. The first season went to Egypt, the second went to the Saudis, the third to the Syrians and now this is the time to head out west with this interesting act.

Two Parrots And One Troubled Cat

This video has been shot somewhere in Egypt, but posted to the net by a Gaza news agency. It's a sad video when a tiny black cat cannot fend for itself when two otherwise gorgeous parrots ganged up on this little creature and not allow it to get away. You can hear even the folks watching this are disturbed by it and try to break the fight.

This is sad, I hope the cat mother spots this and come kick these bullies where it hurts.

7 Facts Every Music Lover Should Know

Growing up, I recall watching a commercial for butter where in the Netherlands one company claims to pamper their cows which gives them better milk. That's just one fact, but there are seven of them. My two favorite facts are that nostalgia is the most common emotion on songs and that repeating chorus increases the chances of a song becoming a hit.

Thank you BuzzFeed for reporting on this...

Most Insensitive Song Anwar El Amir - Tsunami 2013 / أنور الأمير - تسونامي

Lebanese charmer and party favorite singer Anwar El Amir released a new single, this time he is singing in the Iraqi dialect and it's a very violent song. The song has been titled Tsunami, yes the same naturally occurring destructive force that killed thousands of people.

The song is about someone with disaster-level charisma that makes people's hearts explode or fly. Not really certain that love has to be this destructive force Anwar El Amir makes it out to be. I love the music beat, it's that distinct dance melody from Iraq that never changes.

The songs' release was timed with the Alexa storm that hammered the Middle East, it does have a music video and it has been filmed in California.

Crazy Die-Hard Fan Kisses George Wassouf's Shoes During Dubai Concert (Video)

Popular hit-maker George Wassouf  had a bad stroke three years ago and he has been recovering in half dozen countries. Now he agreed to do a concert in the city of Dubai for the new year. Droves of his passionate fans--many of whom are stoners came to see their legend sing.

One fan, he actually went for George Wassouf's shoes and kissed them. It was awkward for everyone as the guards thought he was attacking the pop icon.

This is the first time we witness such an act of fandom. Wassouf sang for two hours and he did received a lot of attention of his fans with presents and cakes.

The Essensial Eighties With Hamid Al Shaery--The Man Who Rocked These Years

He first started with his guitar, then he went to the keyboard and got Arabs to dance to his beat. He was the fixer, the guy you go to to make any song you had cool. He made those slow an mellow songs to upbeat hits, that got you excited to play such cassettes in the car. If a star was big in the eighties and early nighties, know that the Libyan Hamid Al Shaery worked with him or her.

He also produced records for new comers and help make them stars, see him this time grab his guitar and sing in this retro music video--it feels like a Gypsy Kings settings. It's a good song but it's not meant to get you to the dance floor, it's a soothing song.

Luckily, Hamid is still around singing records and producing new music at his studio and his radio--one of the most popular in Egypt and in Libya. Let's see how many pop stars you can spot in this music video--I think I see Ehab Tawfik and Mostfa Amar.

Random! Mai Kassab To Marry Sha'abi Singer Oka (Wedding Soon)

I think the internet went crazy for this news item. It's a random news story, but who are we to judge. The beloved entertainer Mai Kassab is set to wed Oka, the famous guy from Mahrganat parties. The duo have shared the screen at least twice on films. And what started as friendship has moved into a full-fledged courtship and now news on marriage.

I think most people could not get their heads wrapped around the idea of one of the good girls marrying Oka, the guy whose fame is well-known among the youth and fans of auto-tune music. He is the headliner and the main drive behind many dance parties in Egypt. But this is not why the fans are surprised by this news. There is at least ten years of age difference whereas Mai is 10 years older than Oka.

Mai Kassan did actually study music and has performed in the House of Opera. Oka dropped out of school, so he does not have the education. But Oka is a popular hit-maker inside Egypt and he makes money.

In the Arab world this is almost unheard of. Sure, it happened in the past, but this time it happens when we have social media and lots of opinions. If the news of wedding are true I say good fro them. They never care if the guy was older, but they raise hell if the lady was a big older than the groom.
