Rita is Lebanese and Sherif is Egyptian and together they made the sweetest deut I heard all year. Not sure how these two artists got together, but I am glad they did. Romantic songs are never out of style, and with voices like these, I am glad they did this song.
I am more impressed by Rita's voice here, she is certainly the new comer. Sherif is a music composer too, and a producer so he brings a lot to the table.

Eventually, movie producers courted her to sing promo songs for their movies, then she started to star in these films and the rest if history.
Bosy is promoting a new movie where she is accompanied by plenty of other women are either playing the sexy role or just dancing. So women have no roles in El Sobky films but to dance for the man, cheer him up or show him her skin. This is a challenge for you out there, name one good female character from El Sobky films.....
Bosy is dancing for a bunch of men--they only females you see in this promo are the ones who are dancing and the same goes for the men. Also, can you spot one good looking man? No, it's like they wanted to cast the least good looking men in Egypt but the hottest females.
And all of a sudden as a society in Egypt-they shy away from talking about street harassment and catcalls. Bossy, do these movies and songs you make help women? I do not think so. She is really in bed with all these jerks and criminals molesting women in the streets of Egypt.
Egypt is going to hell--and they are not the only ones.

This Eid like every Eid, there will be few movies in the movie theaters around Egypt wanting to empty the pockets of film goers. El Sobky film production makes sure to have at least one movie competing for the box office.
El Sobky family has been making the same movie with the same loose plot for the last five years and the idiots reward them for it. A belly dancer with a heart of gold, a sexy lady that all the guys want to be with, a very nice guy who always does the right thing, and a sleazy character. Not to forget the music have wedding songs done in the Sha'abi taste and that comic relief. It's a formula that has been used and it works.
This time El Sobky family made the same movie but this time, they made it about soccer and some misfits ladies in shorts wanting to play ball.
Women in Egypt are still likened to food and people are cool with it. Here's what is trending in Egypt now. A movie for the Eid is about to be released and to promote it, there is a song that feels like somebody has slapped you with a bag of shit on you face. In this song he calls the lady--let's call her that a piece of candy, a cookie, Jordan Almond and a pussy cat.
The song is with that Armenian dancer that's shaking all of herself for the pleasure of the massed in Egypt. And the guy whose voice is causing all the rioting is none by the Mahmoud Al Leethy. This is a trashy film with gutter quality cast. The plot seems to have some sports and ladies playing soccer and dancing like there is no tomorrow.

September is the month to go back to school, for everyone else it's the Fall season and pumpkin time. I wanted to explore Arabic songs that take place in school--there are so many of them really. I just wanted to share them with you from my memory. These songs are classics and and some of them were part of films. What's curious is that Egyptian pop star Mohammad Fouad has two songs in this group.
I think this is a bittersweet moment for me, as I have not gone to school for a long time and I remember the best part about it it being one with old friends and favorite teachers. And yes in 2009, Tamer Hosny has done his first sequel in "Omar and Salwa 2" This is when they got married and have kids, but then there is jealousy. I do not think there were any hits in these songs! just songs where Tamer Hosny thinks he is too important and he is too many things. At this point, people start having their overload. The best song on this film is the one where new comer Karim Mohsen makes a comer and steals the show--giving birth to the next pop artist.
2010, we saw a decent film emerge from Tamer Hosny "Noor Ainy", a perfect film where drama, meets romance and comedy. Filmed in between Lebanon and Egypt, it was one of his best films and we did walk away with few good songs. Tamer Hosny had to work hard and come up with good songs, which he did here.

"Omar and Salma 3" was released in 2012 and it was not a decent film. The same cast returned and there were few additions. More jokes and more weak plot. Anywho, here are the songs from this film, I think there were many songs in it, I think none of them are memorable.

In February, Nour travelled to London to be treated for severe foot pain, which forced him to seek immediate medical attention. Reports confirm that back in February, the ailing actor traveled to London where he was said to be getting treated for severe foot pain due to a lack of blood flow to his limb. But after medical exams, he discovered some health issues with his lungs which led the actor to quit smoking.

There's a top of the box office film in Egypt today "Wilad Rizik" a movie about gambling, thugs, crimes, family and friendship with four top actors in Egypt's cinema. the movies seems to have a well-crafted plot and a solid cast.
So to market this big film, the theme song had to be good. Such songs get used as a marketing tool when the song plays with videos from the actual film. The sweet kicker? the song pairs one local indie band in Egypt Basata Band with a Syria vocalist diva Asalah and the magic beings.
While Asala did sing with other indie bands in the past, she did so live ten years ago. This time, her song is pretty neat and the band gives her great support allowing for the song to be great in the vocal department and cool in the hip elements. I like the lyrics about life and the choices we made in life. Enjoy this amazing vocal pairing, and I am happy to have learned about Basata.
This Cairo-based band injects some flavors and local character into the song as Asalah owns the vocal showdown and sings those street-smart lyrics yet inspiring.

The late Omar Sharif is no longer walking among us, the beloved Egyptian-born actor is known around the world for his dashing looks, his acting career and his love for the game of "Bridge" But we must remember he has also done some songs. Sure he did not release studio albums, but nevertheless he did sing in more than one film.
In "Araqoz" or the puppeteer, a film released in 1989 in Egypt. This film is actually one of his classic films in Arabic cinema. Omar went crazy for this song he seems so immersed in the role. But this is not the only time he sang....he did it before for an American classic film "Funny Girl"
And if that's not enough he did the same song live on theater years later. And he also sang in French--a language he spoke like a native. So enjoy this little known fact and appreciate this true legend.

Omar Sharif, the dashing, Egyptian-born actor who was one of the biggest movie stars in the world in the 1960s, with memorable roles in “Dr. Zhivago,” “Lawrence of Arabia” and “Funny Girl,” has died. He was 83.
Sharif suffered a heart attack on Friday afternoon in a hospital in Cairo, his agent said.
It was announced in May 2015 that he was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.
With the global success of David Lean’s “Lawrence of Arabia,” starring Peter O’Toole, in 1962, Sharif became the first Arab actor to achieve worldwide fame, thanks to his charismatic presence in the epic film — and the Oscar nomination he drew because of it.
In its wake he very quickly became a busy Hollywood actor: Sharif made three films in 1964, including “Behold a Pale Horse” and “The Yellow Rolls Royce,” and three in 1965, including his first lead role in an English-language production, as the title character in Lean’s “Dr. Zhivago,” for which he won a Golden Globe.
Thanks to his gentle continental accent and dark but hard-to-place good looks, the actor was not ethnically typecast: In “Behold a Pale Horse” he played a Spaniard, in “Zhivago” a Russian, in “Genghis Khan” a Mongol, in “Funny Girl” a New York Jewish gambler and in “The Night of the Generals,” a German major during WWII.

Nevertheless, there was no little controversy about his role in “Funny Girl”: When 1967’s Six Day War between Israel and Arab countries including Egypt occurred, Columbia execs considered replacing Sharif; later, when a still depicting a love scene between the actor and Barbra Streisand was published, the Egyptian press began a movement to revoke Sharif’s citizenship.
Other significant late-’60s films for the actor included J. Lee Thompson Western “MacKenna’s Gold,” with Gregory Peck and Telly Savalas, and tragic European political love story “Mayerling,” in which Sharif was paired with Catherine Deneuve.
During the 1970s Sharif remained busy, but there were fewer notable projects. Standouts included Blake Edwards thriller “The Tamarind Seed,” with Julie Andrew, and Richard Lester’s thriller “Juggernaut.”
Since the mid-1980s Sharif returned sporadically to Egyptian cinema, where he got his start.
In 2003 Sharif won acclaim for his role in Francois Dupeyron’s “Monsieur Ibrahim” as a Turkish Muslim shop owner who becomes an avuncular figure for a Jewish boy in Paris. Although the role was perceived as representing something of a career resurgence for the actor, he had in fact been working regularly over the previous decades in film and TV and continued to do so after “Ibrahim.”
The same year he starred in the 23-episode French anthology TV series “Petits mythes urbains,” in which he played a mysterious cab driver; he also wrote for the series.
He had a substantial role in 2004’s “Hidalgo,” with Viggo Mortensen, and appeared in ABC’s 2006 “Ten Commandments” miniseries and NBC’s 2009 “The Last Templar” miniseries. On the bigscreen he was the narrator for Roland Emmerich’s “10,000 BC.” He also worked a great deal in film and TV projects not distributed in the U.S.
Sharif was born Michel Dimitri Shalhoub in Alexandria to a Melkite Greek Catholic family from Lebanon, though he later converted to Islam. He and his wife had one son, who appeared in “Dr. Zhivago” as a young version of Sharif’s title character. The couple separated in 1966 — a year after the actor moved to Europe — and ultimately divorced; Sharif never remarried.
Sharif became interested in acting during his school years at Alexandria’s prestigious Victoria College and was given his first screen role in fellow alum Youssef Chahine’s “The Blazing Sun,” presented at Cannes in 1954. Soon thereafter he married his leading lady Faten Hamama, already a major star in Egyptian cinema (they divorced in 1974). The couple made a number of films together, including the provocative melodrama “Sleepless” (1957) and a version of “Anna Karenina” entitled “The River of Love” (1960). His roles in these films, including the five he made with leading helmer Salah Abouseif, exhibited a vibrant sensuality that complimented a marked emotional intelligence. By 1956 he was appearing in international productions, beginning with Richard Pottier’s “The Lebanese Mission,” though it wasn’t until 1962’s “Lawrence of Arabia” that he began to appear regularly in high-profile projects.
The actor was famously a world-class bridge player. In November 2005, Sharif received UNESCO’s Sergei Eisenstein Medal in recognition of his significant contributions to world film and cultural diversity.
He is survived by a son and two grandsons, Omar Sharif Jr., an actor, and Karim.
All Arab guys seem to like this actor for his tough guy roles he often plays. Egyptian actor and bad boy Mohamed Ramadan returns for the Eid movie season with a new blockbuster where he is playing a cop and blowing stuff up. If you have a minute check his Facebook pictures to know all about his muscles and his big heart.
When Ramadan started acting, he did amazing roles and reminded so many of the the late actor Ahmed Zaki. but somewhere along the way Ramadan started worrying about doing movies that make profit and somehow, he has always ended playing the thug, criminal, security guard or now police officer. Though he did play a number of comedic roles, but mostly he likes to blow stuff up.
Ramadan made so much money for his producer Al Sobki family that essentially do whatever he wants. The new film "Shad Agza2" seems to be his biggest budget to date, and you can see he has gotten in the best shape of his life for the role. I think this film will do well.

A young man always likes to boast about the choices he made, and upcoming pop star Eslam Ammar is no different. I love his voice, the guy has some real voice and a true talent. This time he got his song about in a new film--the one where Sandy stared. Sandy is a singer, but she transitioned into movies. I am happy to see another singer featured in her film. Sandy has recorded at least three songs fro the film, this time she brings out a new talent.
Hope you guys find him good, I like the material of his voice, the western elements, but I think he can go somewhere with his sweet emotions, and joyous performance.

The cool thing about musicians who can sing is that they have longevity, they can always be busy working on songs their own or for others. Hossam Habib is one of these talents, and he is finishing his album--in fact it has been done for years but blame the production companies. However, before the release of the album, one single made it out about two months ago, and now the same song is being using to market a new romantic film.
The hook, the leading lady is wearing a head cover and rocking it. Tunisian actress is making the look look natural and she is dazzling with that modest look. The song is about yearning for that loved one to the degree that one cannot help but break in tears. I did not fall in love with this song since it's a little bit out of my comfort zone, but now with the clip, I found one more reason to love it. Dura plays the salt of this earth all-Egyptian character. This makes her the second Tunisian actress to wear the head cover for a film--following the footsteps of Hind Sabry in Asmaa.
This feels like an intimate film, and the presence of the indie star Hany Adel brings a whole new demographics of young and brainy movie-goers. Mai Selim, the Jordanian songstress also stars in the flick. The movie is about these small towns around the Nile that one can only get it using the ferry.

Mohamed Rashad, the young man who competed on the third season for Arab Idol just got a new gig. Rashad got to sing the promo song for a new movie "Karam El King" a movie about thugs with a heart of gold who interacts with good people. There will be belly dancers and comic relief and a plot of some sort.
The cast seems to be heavy on male characters, I like the song and the young artist. Why must every Egyptian movie have wedding party scene? Maybe not all of them but 8 out of ten films released in Egypt would have to have a wedding party. It's like they do nothing in that country but kill peaceful protestors and party at weddings.
The song goes nuts where guys are dancing on the floor and ladies in the balcony. I would wait to see this film. I do not think this is a memorable song or movie. The lead are Mahmoud Abdel Ghani and Jordanian Mondir Ryahhnah.

When a secondary character on a hit TV sitcom get their own show, it's known as a spin off. Faza'a, Fezo or Faza3 the lovable guy from Alkabeer, that TV show on Ramadan. I liked him on the show, I liked the first and second season anything after that is just trash.
Fezo is now back with a new movie of his own being himself. I do not feel this movie will break any records or impress the critics, but it will help Fezo become a star after being a punching bag on that show. Here's the song that's helping get the word out on the movie. It seems to have a loose scrip where anything goes...it's something for the kids, a bit of misfit romance and some light drama.
Hassan El Raddad is supposed to be an actor, but in more than a dozen of roles he has played, he has always played the same character. The good-looking guy who is a player and all women want. I liked him three years ago, but now I am sick and tired of his same roles. Let's not forget that he came to the movie business through his father who was an actor before him.
Watch the preview for this little talent hack play the same character over and over again. I guess there are three different ladies fighting for his affection. Hassan El Raddad's new movie shows him slapping many women on camera. Really is that their idea of being funny? Such acts do not advance the well-being of women in homes that watch the different households.

Egyptian teens and grownups like to enjoy their live as if they are living in a Hollywood film. A fantasy tale, this is what you get when you have too much many, too much time, and lack of a allegiance to local culture. So Sandy an Egyptian pop songstress whose style is more fitting for American high school than Arab and Muslim ones released a new movie.
She gave it an English name, and told an American story not an Egyptian one--nothing about the movie takes place in Egyptian narrative. It's like if Egyptian teens watch American movies--and love them so much that they want to make one just like it.
This is Sandy's first flick, and she was hoping for his turnout--she got lots of teens and young adults showing up, she did go to more than one screening and took loads of pictures, that were uploaded onto her official Facebook page. Nothing it original about the film, not even the outfits or the haircuts. Long are the days when Egypt gave us a decent movie--they still can. But in the meantime, we are stuck with lame films.
In her interview--video below, she is is not making any secrets about her copying the Hollywood model, she said Hanna Montana. Glad to hear that worked out well for her--zing. She is talking about roles that are relevant to hr age--she think she is still 17 years old.

Some Egyptian film is pushing the envelop with a new racy song set up in a wedding with the voice of the slum's best artist Mahmoud El Lathy in the company of Hassan Radad, Emy Said, Aytan Amer and May Selim. And together they are dancing and singing like no one is watching.
This is a hit song in today's Egypt and it's really sad, but also fun. There are so much good about this, but this is sleazy for one bit. At least the guy is singing and dancing just like the ladies and the good news they are all covered.
A truck load of women, or a jam of women, a boat load of women is this title. May Salem adds a bit of sizzle to this song, I hope it's not just five ladies fighting over some dude. Amy adds the humor that's all her own. Aytan ads that Egyptian funk.
Enjoy this feast....I think the idea behind this film is both tried, expired, and boring....so let's hope they find a better story to tell and that Hassan Al Radad playing man whore for a long time now. It's gets old. It stinks that all Egyptian films that make money are about dancing and about singing in this fashion. Maybe it's the audience who wants this....if they see indie films, they may go see them But also indie films only show in limited screens and they do not get to advertise their films like these clowns.

At first he was a beloved Egyptian actor who took challenging and indie roles, he made a great villain. This is Mohammad Kareem, the guy who is still the presenter and the host of the MBC produced The Voice, filmed in Lebanon. He was a surprise pick, but I guess he is Egyptian and that's good for marketing. This is the second season for him on the show--he has said he may not comeback. But he has also been talking about being part of an international film project, and he is promising surprises to his fans.
He seems like a nice guy, but I do not know why he is treated as a celebrity intellect. He just gave an interview, talking about the coaches and his friendship with the four of them. How hard is his job? It's not like he is doing it live, it's all pre-re recorded and things are easy....It's not just business, they look like they are great friends--I am sure when they have time.
The crew of the show have to have a level of chemistry, some drama goes a long way--I am looking at you Arab Idol.
