Arab Pop Stars Who Joined The Million Views Club!

Arab pop stars are pleased if they break the million views on YouTube, if they beat that, it's all gravy. But then there are few who reach ten million and we will never hear the end of it. But in the Arab music industry, there have been only three pop stars to break the 100 million views on the video viewing and sharing. Let's see who they are...
  1. Saad Lamjarred, the Moroccan pop star whose songs are different than what most Arab pop stars make. He does local songs from Morocco with an international mindset. And his music vidoes are so creative yet simple. He is the latest to join the club with his hit song "LM3ALLEM" It's actually a fresh breeze of pop that even impresses those who are not typically listening to Arabic music. Saad came a lone way from his days on Star Academy where he made his splash.
  2. Hala Turk, the little girl from Arabs Got Talent--she is from Bahrain and she likes to do cute songs in both Arabic and English. Since he does teen and children songs, you know she gets the views from the same household a dozen times. So if you are an Arab child, you will appreciate what Hala has been doing. I do not like that she is so concerned with singing English. If you do think you are a brat, you won't be the only one. Happy Happy
  3. Huseein Al Jassmi, this is  weird one, you get the biggest pop star from the UAE whose fans are all across the Middle East doing a song form Egypt. So a guy who grew up without democracy--but plenty of cash, singing for a cash strapped army dictator. No one denies that's a catchy tune that went viral and made last summer one big dance party. Though the composer, idiot Amr Moustafa took credit for it and many Egyptian pop got envious. "Bushrat Kheer"
How does it feel not to have one Egyptian pop star or Lebanese singer on this list? Maybe this is a humble pie. If you care about money, a 100 million views are worth $870,000! That's a lot of cash in Arabia.

Why Does The Winner Of Arab's Got Talent Speaks No Arabic? @SalahEntertain1 @ArabsGotTalent

Salah Entertainer took home the award and the title of Arabs Got Talent. Then the winner got to do dozens of interviews. Question? Why is the winter of Arabs Got Talent does not speak Arabic? Really MBC? He says he is Arab and he appeared on some French programs. But he is speaking English at the press conference.

Really? What language do they speak in Morocco/ Algeria? Maybe you do not have to speak Arabic to be an Arab? I thought this is what makes on Arab in the first place? Least he can do to speak Arabic...he says he is Muslims, can he not read the holy book? I do not now, I might be too grumpy right now.

He did give a shout out to the kid from Palestine and the struggle of the people of that land. He also gave a shout out to Egyptian Yasmina. I just do not get where in his background he got the English from? Does he speak French too? I bet he does. No doubt he is talented and has brought a lot of joy with his appearance. How can he make money? I think he will show up in some movies or music videos for quick cash.

Breaking News: Salah Entertainer Wins Arabs Got Talent!

He took home the title and beat dozens of other acts that are not limited to singing. The judges adored Salah Entertainer who brought in his show and did something very different. He got people to laugh without saying a word, it's just finny shoes noise and some movements.

He dances, does gymnastics and a dozen other tricks up his sleeve. Something else this Salah guy, and he is ready for prime time. About time to see something kid friendly win this title. He is a cool Algerian-Moroccan act that brighten the day. The 4th season went home West, and this is why Salah got the move votes. The first season went to Egypt, the second went to the Saudis, the third to the Syrians and now this is the time to head out west with this interesting act.

Jennifer Grout Wants To Master Eastern Takht Music

Oud, Violin, Qanunu, Nay, Rababah, Santtor, and Daf and you got yourself an Eastern Takht Music. This from of singing that has become known during the Turkish "Ottoman" era in the 1850s and the musicians sat on the level of a bed and performed.  This has become a very tough art form to master specially for singers who wants to establish their cred.

Jennifer had another challenge, the language challenge, she worked with her friend and Arabic tutor to master the words that she will be later singing. Some of her fans got to see her in the States, here in Washington DC where she performed in January some old Arabic songs.

The American lady who almost won the title of Arabs Got Talent has a dream which is to master this singing form. She has came close to doing this Tarab songs in about two minutes. Now she has to do the same thing for at least 30 minutes. You build up the song, and then climax, and you retrieve.

Tear-Jerker! Gaza Melts The Hearts Of Arabs Got Talent (Video)

Five kids came from Gaza to be in Lebanon and to take part of the Arabs Got Talent. But before getting there they had first to survive a brutal war, and break away from a cruel siege. They had to overcomes the odds to make it with an audition tape--they left an impression and the show invited them back.

The music students at the Gaza Music School or Edward Said Music Conservatory know little about the politics of what trapped them into that land known as Gaza....but they knew being a Palestinian meant one has to work harder, and be patient. Eventually, they made it and got to be on the show. Arabs.

They made it on the show, these little guys got overwhelmed, one of the boys started crying and real tears came out. For the first time in the show-s history the four judges jumped to the stage to hug and greet the boys from Gaza. There's a young woman withe them, she is a member of the band. But the one that stole your heart is the kid playing the Qanoon in the back...he had hot tears when he saw the golden ticket was awarded to them and the confetti came out.

They won over the judges none like Saudi Fahid Al Qussiby who was the first to show how much he really loved them. The cover song is a popular classic for the late Lebanese Wadie El Safy. It's an Eastern melody styled song that shows authenticity.

Girl Power Hala Al Turk Wants To Be A Dentist

Hala Turk was a little girl when she did very well on Arabs Got Talent with her music. She is a young woman now and she has new plans and new songs. But she is ready to focus on school and be a dentist. She has a stepmom who is also a songstress, so the completion is tough...though her father is a music producer so she got little to worry about.

Hala sat with Music Nation to talk about her future. I did not quit school, she tells her fans, school is important and she urges the little ones to stick around. Singing is something she likes and enjoys, but she also places a big value on education. She talks about friendships and being a celebrity among her friends.

She also talks about online bullying and negative comments that does not get to her, she knows who she is. She talks about hits, she has about five of them and they are fun and mix Arabic and English. Hala has a big fan base mostly in the Gulf. She is a little girl who knows much about social media and keeping up with her fans. Good luck to her, may mean people take a hint and leave her alone.

Yasmena Brings Back Om Kalthoum And Sets Arabs Got Talent On Fire! (Video)

She is not even sweet 16, but she has already turned up the sweetness and excitement for Arabs Got Talent. Many who comes with big dreams to such talent scouting programs, but Yasmena will leave an impression wherever she ends.

The four judges were her biggest fans when they heard her sing, some of them were moved to tears as they saw this young woman do an impressive cover of the lady Oum Kalthoum. Yes, the iconic Egyptian music legend. She was a bit overwhelmed with the moment, but as soon as she got into the element, she was flying and she was joined by the judges.

She did sing more than one song and each time, she dazzled them and blew their minds away. And she was moved ahead of the pack and boy did she advance. It's not that she does a great job, she is like she is that late legend in the flesh. It's nuts how good she sounds, for her tender age, she has a perfect impersonation and performance of the one and the only. Those vocal muscles are wrapped in gold. You see this lady, she is going to make millions happy.

Her Best Song! Najwa Karam - 3al Sakhra / نجوى كرم - عالصخرة

Najwa Karam returned with a Christmas gift to all her fans, a new single about love founded on a bedrock and love founded on sand. She is as passionate as hell, and as loud as they come. She rocks out in this track with so much firepower. She sounds like her best 90s songs.

Najwa Karam has broke records again, as this single has so many viewership, it's a stunning outcome to a great song. Najwa will be back on the judge chair on Arabs Got Talent in few days, so we await her return to the small screen. 3al Sakhra is about love, when you give and the other person does not give as much. The track allows for Najwa to show off her best attributes and she takes advantage of the song as a vehicle.

This is a dark song with a dance beat and it really lands well. It shows that Najwa Karam is not just a diva but a songstress made off legendary stuff.

Jennifer Grout "American Umm Kulthum" Converts To #Islam (Video) Recites #Koran

The super-talented American young lady who was one of the final three competitors of "Arabs Got Talent." The songstress put on a compelling performance, and the media both at home and in Arabia embraced and celebrated her. Now Jennifer Grout is back in the spotlight and according to a number of online sources in Arabic, she has accepted Islam.

I do not know if this is true, but the video, she can be seen talking about it, and reciting the holy Koran. She is accompanied by her Moroccan boyfriend, where this video was shot in Morocco. Reports confirm Jennifer's presence in the Moroccan Kingdom where she has been living and learning.

I know many Muslims at least online are celebrating this breaking news, like they are waiting for yet another sign to validate their religion.

Jennifer Grout  went from being a long shot to falling just short. Jennifer Grout, the all-American girl almost won the biggest televised talent show in the Middle East "Arabs Got Talent." She stunned audiences singing traditional songs in flawless Arabic, a language she barely speaks. She said, "I feel really good. I'm really happy I was in the Top 3 and it was such a good experience."

Her final performance wowed the crowd, but it wasn't enough to pull off an upset. Jennifer may not have won the competition but she did win over this audience here tonight, one of her fans telling me that he really appreciated what he called her beautiful and sincere tribute to Arabic music.

WATCH: American Jennifer Grout Astonishes The World On Arabs Got Talent

Jennifer Grout left the American city Boston months ago to take part of Arabs Got Talent, now she is almost ready to go back to Boston, but things won't be the same for her. She now has the attention of the Arabic world who has grown fond of her and her performances and covers of beloved Arabic oldies. Jennifer Grout, a 23-year-old singer from Boston, speaks no Arabic—and yet she’s become a phenomenon across the Middle East for her flawless renditions of classic songs on the spinoff series Arabs Got Talent.

I can see the State Department making her a good will ambassador and sending her on a tour. But I think right before that the MBC network is trying to come up with a clever way to market Jennifer Grount--if that's what she wants to do. It has been nearly 40 years since the legendary Arab diva, Umm Kulthum, passed away. Now, the most unlikely candidate may follow in her footsteps: A 23-year-old American girl, who as it turns out, hardly speaks a word of Arabic.

I know she can have a busy career in the States, Arab expats will pay top dollars to see her perform live. Sure she came to win the third spot--not sure who will win the Arabs Got Talent title fro its third season. Her finale song was something worth revisiting and replaying over and over. Let's not forget the Palestinian contestant who paints with fire and was among the three finalists.

She has really connected with people and they loved her and that smile of hers, she is ready to talk about her experience and hope this would be a good chance for her to be a bridge of cultural understanding. The Syrian dance troupe may have bested her, but Jennifer is the one that will be laughing all the way to the bank while doing something that makes her people so proud.

However, some critics have questioned the larger message behind the attention Grout’s successes has garnered.

“The assumption seems to be that there is nothing special about the global South imitating Western culture, since that is just the way of the world,” Mariam Bazeed, an Egyptian writer and vocalist in New York, told the New York Times. “But when a Westerner deigns to imitate ‘ethnic’ cultures, then it’s suddenly this great act, worthy of documenting.”  I would respond, that it wasn't America that made Jennifer famous, it was that the Arabs loved her so much. Also, if an Arab does well on American show or if he does country songs, the media would be calling him/her.

American @JenniferGroutt Fires Up Arabs Got Talent

The twenty three year old Bostonian appeared on Arabs Got Talent, the Arabia went wild. She sang a cover for the legendary Egyptian diva Umm Kulthum and the press won't shut up about her. She is Jennifer Grout . and yes, she plays the oud!  While she is no Arab, she clearly got the talent.

This is the story of American woman from Massachusetts is wowing the judges and audiences of "Arabs Got Talent" with her singing, despite the fact that she understands very little Arabic. Jennifer has moved into the finals of the competition which is shown throughout the Arab world and has been competing with performers from across the Middle East and North Africa.

This season has featured a Saudi stand-up comic, a karate-performing trio from Kuwait and a hijab-wearing rapper from Egypt, among many others. Grout, who is from Cambridge, Mass., is getting ready to return to the Lebanese capital, Beirut, where she will be one of 12 contenders in the finals of "Arabs Got Talent." "The first performance, nobody really took me seriously before I went on stage, just an American girl singing Arabic," she said of her Susan Boyle moment. "About 30 seconds into it, I think everybody was very surprised. I felt really proud, because the audience went from not taking me seriously to like, wow she's good.

Grout is through to the show's final on 7 December, with the judges first won over by her version of Umm Kulthum's Baeed Annak, a love song that is tough even for native-speakers to master – and then Oh Birds, by Syrian singer Asmahan. "You don't speak a word of Arabic," another judge, Lebanese singer Najwa Karam, told her, "and yet you sing better than other singers."

This Folksy Jerusalem Lady Knows How To Party in #Palestine

She is no diva, but she sings Palestine from the heart. She is in a band, called Asayil, they sing Palestine and try to be protective of the heritage of the land that gave birth to them. She is Niveen Al Sawy, the daughter of Jerusalem. She is a fixture of Palestinians music, she can be often heard and seen perform around the cities of the West Bank. Similar Palestinian bands and dance troupe are now on Arabs Got Talent.

To help you understand Niveen, imagine being able to hang out with a younger version of your grandmother with all her stories about country and folks back in the days. This is the kind music Niveen embodies.

Now Niveen boasts about one title, the ambassador of the folksy Palestinian song. She has a degree in business, but when it comes to music, she has been in the city of Ramallah as a member of the Asayil group. She is a local celebrity and her name is even traveling outside the boundaries of Palestine. When people want something different, you can hear Niveen doing covers of popular Arabic classics.

The cool thing about Niveen, is that she is the salt of the earth, someone who you may have gone to school, someone you may have shopped next to. She is that, and then you learn that she is an entertainer who places Palestine in her heart. She is one of the new breed of Palestinians who strive to make a name for Palestine in whatever means they can--art seems to be a popular choice.

It's not easy growing up a Palestinian in Jerusalem under an occupation that wants nothing but failure to you. Niveen knows that and through music she is able to get back at the occupation. She has grown to become a proud Palestinian women who rocks that old dress look and reach out to other women in Palestine and beyond.

WATCH: Hala Al Turk - Happy Happy #حلا_الترك - هابي هابي Children Songs

The is the littlest big-time hit-maker and she knows it. Most of her peers are popular, but she is so and richer. She is a young celebrity who knows her value! See her sing with her pals in a very happy track about birthdays. She might be up to something here in making over a beloved global classic--the birthday song.

I like Hala Turk, she has a good team, and her Arabic is as good as her Arabic. But the best thing about her is her confidence around camera, she has so much energy, and it communicates that energy to her listeners. She got it and wherever she is, the boasts that level of joy. This is a surprise song where she is asking her fans to raise their hands if they like her. Then she tells them I love you, and I swear I do. I love when she talked about the brotherhood.

This is a clever song from a bright little girl who is in the transition to being a woman in very short years. She came a long way from her days with Arabs Got Talent, now she has been well-advised in every move she makes.

WATCH: Kid From #Syria Bewitched Arabs Got Talent تجارب الأداء -نائل الطرابلسي

I have mixed feeling about the boy wonder on Arab Got Talents, the young Syrian musician Nael Tarablsi. In one hand, he is a gifted piano-player who has the musical knowledge to be able to tell which note and melody are being played without looking. He passed the test, not only did he play vibrant music, but he added a little musical challenge.

The shameful part lays in the fact grownups are using him to express their failures. He is being used as a tool to talk about the war in Iraq. He talked about losing his piano in the war and such, which can be true, but I think it's a cheap shot. To add to the injury, many Syrian celebrities are now using him on Twitter to become more famous and relevant. MBC, is also getting the word out about him with his own hash tag #تحدي_نائل  Challenge Nael.....

We should all focus on his art and his talent, he is bless his heart a smart kid who has the intelligence and charisma many stars dream of. I love how confident he is, and how funny he comes across, he talks like an old man, but his music is something that will take him far, and he might be the strong contender on the show. I hope he will find his piano, as he said Keyboards are limited, unlike his talent that seems to be limitless.

I do not think, he should be counted from one side of another, he is a Syrian and that's what matters, he is not a political party. He is a credit to that nation, using him for politics is shameful and will backfire.

WATCH: Tamarad KFC Amr katamesh #Egypt عمرو قطامش-تمرد-غناء شادي عبد السلام ورنا عتيق

The fat street poet from Egypt who won Arabs Got Talent is back with yet another political song/poem/skit.
Amr Katamesh is his name and he wants to see change, he wants people to rebel as if rebellion will be peaceful. He is calling on people to take on the streets and dedicates the song to one of his friends who was murdered.

He says he chose to be silent for stability. I do not recall him being silent, they have protests and strikes every day of the year under the new president. Plus what's a guy who did a commercial for KFC Kentucky fried chicken chicken got to do with political analysis?

His humor mixed with rage tell me his overstayed his welcome! I am sure he has fans out there, but most people have no idea who this kid. He does involve a number of young people with him in this project calling for rebellion. Again I am certain those tax dodging TV networks would love to promote such work. I do like the victimization card feel the song has.

I do not know if these people know how democracy work, you do not have to like who wins, you wait for the next elections and hope for a change. I think Egypt is sick of know it all young activists who seem to change their minds every five seconds. I think people now more than ever want a country that runs smoothly.

@Shamma_Hamdan The UAE Lady That Rocks

Some people might not be ready Shamma Hamdan, the jeans wearing and guitar playing lady. Taking part of Arabs Got Talent and rocking the airwaves with her style and her confidence. Not to forget her t-shirts have also been a subject of debate by some. At just 18, the schoolgirl from Dubai founds herself in the full glare of the celebrity spotlight after becoming the first Emirati woman to make it through to the finals of the hit reality TV show.

During her stint on Arabs Got Talent, the pigs dressed like men came to attack her, her clothes and her look, they really got to her and according to one interview--she cried at night. This is just because she is trying to do something different, she is not posing or copying anyone, this is her style. So back off people, those are the same people who go on pleasure trips to places like Thailand and Eastern Europe.

Shamma had to face many delusional critics:

"It was like fire, rumours spread about my origin, that I am not 'originally' Emirati, that I am from Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, India, even Afghanistan, cause, hey, I don't look like the typical Emirati," she said. In fact the family is from Al Raisi tribe. "I am not a tomboy, not a boyat, not anything. I am just a musician who is a bit sporty," she says. "I like to surf when I am not playing music." "Imagine I performed in an abaya and shayla while playing on a guitar? What would they say? I would be called the biggest sinner in the world."

Shamma, is from the UAE, a place known for many contradiction and global appeal. Her sister singed her up for the show's audition and she only fond out two days prior to the day of audition. She worked hard to persuade her family who have eventually given her their approval. Not only does Shamma have a great and lovely voice, she writes some of her songs and composes music as well. This talent alone puts Shamma light years ahead of your favorite pop star. Not just that, she can also compose songs in Spanish, giving her guitar an extra flavor.

I have enjoyed her most recent single (Wish Aby Aqool) where the artists heart and pride collide and give us a great performance by this dazzling young voice from the Gulf who have manged to thrive despite all the hate. Talents like Shamma should be supported not buried  because she is putting the attention back on music and good lyrics not on all other distractions.

Reema Morgan "Daftar Asamy" The Anti Glamour Song

When an African looking girl from Gaza made waves, the Arab world took notice of this guitar playing Reggie looking talented young woman. Meet Reema Morgan who represented Palestine on the popular show Arabs Got Talent, and now she appears in a duet song with fun singer Noor Najih. I have not noticed her before, but finally I got to hear Morgan's voice and boy this girl can bring down the house.

"Daftar Asamy", a names notebook translates the title. Both artist celebrate the common man in Egypt, the ones who do the dirty jobs and get dismissed by society yet they wake up everyday doing what they have done best. The song has a funky vibe to it, coming from the outfits and the off color and off the wall musicians appearing on the video. The songs is about the rich feeding off the poor and making money off their backs.

The song takes place on the roof of some home in the slum, people living there are the kindest people one can meet. She sounds like she comes form those areas even though it's hard to crack the code of such residential areas. I am certain in Egypt she would pass for an Egyptian. Naturally, both artists do a rare song where we celebrate the man who gets often neglected and little thank you.

Together the made a very effective song, that raises so many issues without alienating folks or sparking a class warfare. Their song does change styles and speed as it progresses which keeping me guessing.

Listen: Yousef Arafat 2013 Single يوسف عرفات - ولا ليلة حصريا

Yousef Arfat has found his heart in a new romance single he is pushing for 2013. It's a Lebanese pop song with a catchy melody. Yousef, released few singles once he left Arab Idol where he came a third runner up and left the stage with the judges batting hi on the back. Yousef Arab Idol exit was sudden, but he made the most of it as such the young artist has been celebrated among his fans.

I feel he is starting 2013 on a high note, he has finally stumbled one a song that serves him well and offers his fans something that like from this charming young entertainer. I believe this might as well be the first hit in this new year. I dig the Greek instruments. Yousef is cementing his relatively new comer status with a golden pop song that will carry him through Valentine day concerts.
