The Amazing @JadShwery Delivers With @yara_lb A Canned Wedding

This is a classic music video about a proposal, a guy meets girl, guy falls in love with girl. Then the guy goes for the proposal....and it's cute. I mean this was a good song to begin with, when it was released we could not stop playing it over and over. But then this is a music video by the colorful Jad Shwery.

As a guy I do not feel this music video is geared toward me, but rather a music video meant to make little girls swoon. For starter, there is a young model who is playing the part of the future Mr. Yara, and to be frank he looks a lot younger than Yara. The outfit choice for Yara's first scene does not seem to add up.  She has always been soft and chic, I do not see it here.

Maybe I have watched many wedding movies, and actually weddings, but I think this music video is riddled with one cliche after another. I do not like blonde Yara here, it makes her look like someone she is not.

Now comes the wedding shot with Yara, she is back to her lovely self and being the butterfly she has always been. She surely shines in that wedding scene and the surrounding works well.I do not think Yara makes a great actress, but as a songstress she is flawless.

Again this is a cute music video that feels happy, but I do not think offers anything fresh. Even the opening scene seems forced or awkward at worst. The good thing, this is a good location and a wonderful set, the elder actors deliver some credibility to this music video.

Maybe I am being to hard on this music video, just maybe that I like the song too much to be neutral. I exeocted more from Jad, he is way more than talented to do this song justice.

The Fresh Mint Song Is Old!...Moustafa Hagag Misses @NjMusicProduct

I liked this song as a song, but now as a music video I do not think it's that good. Why? Last year Mostafa Hagag was one of my favorite new comers to the pop scene, he has charisma that is clear throughout his song selection.

The guy did a song about fresh mint and his love interest who likes fresh mint. Cool song, then he filmed it as a music video and things did not work out I think. Nothing is fresh about the music video. Using flashy cars and dude clothes, jumping around the camera aimlessly. And then there is that dancer with great hair who looks like a body builder and doing things on her balcony that would be either strange in the West or an advertisement for a sex worker.

But it's not her fault, it's the vision of the director and the singer that went along. I still like Mostafa and like that he seems like easy going and not too pretentious. He comes across as a guy from a modest origins who made it. Maybe it's the pressure eon him to do what's popular by brining that sexy dancer and getting it on with her in public. Then all of sudden a bunch of guys come wanting to p[arty with his lady, and a little kid comes and gives them a bunch of mint--not flowers.

Egyptian Singer Loai Cannot Go Back To The Top Again

As Loai releases yet another new music video for a song from his album releases earlier this year, I cannot help but think this is a talented guy who has not found a hit for more than five years. This Egyptian singer released three albums, the first was a classic pop album that saw his rise to fame. He second album was average...third album was lacking. Sure it had few songs that are decent, but nothing registered with the masses.

Not sure what is not working with this once lovable but shy artist. I did not love this song and the album while looks classy and puts Loai under a good light, it's just a song that has no soul and a music video that could not make it have one.

Ozaina El-Ali , A Very Sad Syrian Man

This guy is the saddest man, you will ever meet. Or it might be that he enjoys the feeling one gets when they have been wronged. I only say that because in all his songs he seems to get screwed when he has been nothing but nice. I know certain people enjoy the victim and guy on the cross. He is Syrian singer Odeina from the city of Lathikia where is father is a physician and an art critic. Odiena composes music, singers and writes lyrics, he has been in the business since the late 90s, he does have many fans at home and abroad. I know songs like his strike all the right notes with the young and the frustrated. He has made it big in Jordan as well as with expats.

In very short time, Odeina has met a lot of success with his fans. It helps that he is working full-time on music and he always releases new tracks. The guy has the voice and the flavor to make it in this very crowded music scene.

Sadly, Moustafa Amar Releases Another Disappointing Song "Eyon Mashala"

Can we still teach an old dog new tricks? Not many would say yes, and those who say yes, know it will take some time. This is the feeling I got listening to yet another sub-par song by the wonder boy of the 90's pop Moustafa Amar.

The sad reality, this is his second single this summer and not one good hit. Same old crap and club music that has been tired since a decade ago. I like the stuff Amar did, but I think it's becoming harder for him to maintain his position as a lead pop star. He once was the number one artists in sales and in concerts. But he has been nowhere to be seen for about a decade.

He tried to work with new crew, still it does not look good and it does not sound that exciting. If he is trying to do songs for the younger folks--maybe they like this song I do not know. But the fans who know him best (and familiar with his amazing hits), are not impressed.

He does not have to retire, should he try something different? Join a hip band? Be a judge on one of these singing competitions? Or perhaps, work with the old crew who loves his past perfromances, and want to inject some fresh air into his career.

The Egyptian Adele Attempts To Be Hip (Video)

Reham Abd Elhakim just released one of her music videos unto the world. Reham, I love her might opera-quality vocals. Perhaps she might not be the cool artists you had on mind, but when it comes to singing she is tough to beat. Though I like her many songs from various movies and TV shows. It's hard to forget her song that takes issue with the many faults that comes with growing up in Egypt. A touching song that resonated with all Arabs not just the ones in Egypt.

Reham is trying to do an image makeover and appealing to the young and hip. She already has fans in many of her tuxedo wearing fans who know her from the house of opera. I like how Egyptian she is. She is your text book Egyptian female artist.

I just think she deserves a better music video, than this graphic show that seems to be at least ten years old. Not her fault, but glad to see that Mazzika is featuring her at all. Singers who are more focused on their voice and less with their image and marketing are under-represented. Rehad did play the role of a young Um Kalthoom in that hit show in 1999. Her first performance at the house of opera came at the young age of 12.

Pascale Machalani Cruising Towards The Past! # YaAlhanoun

Pascale Machalani used to be a big deal a decade ago. I want her to make a sweet comeback, I really do. She is a lady who won't quit, she did take a break to have a family and she manged to do that so well. But her album from last year, I felt did not offer anything new, no lead song that stood out or a song that felt organic.

She did have that Jordanian song that was rad, but other than that one it felt tired. Here's an song of hers with old footage from a classic Arabic film. he one couple that each Arab male and female fancy being with. Good luck with that, Pascale Machalani could not turn back the clock, and neither can you.

Since Rotana controls the rights for her album and the rights for that song--an album they produced, comes the random pairing.

Diana Mardiny Sings in Arabic Titles Her Song In Broken English - Look 2 Me

More and more Arab singers are choosing to title their songs in English-even though the song is in Arabic. Rouwida Attieh just did it with her "First Dance" song this year. Now comes a new pop songstress with the name Diana Mardiny. The new song of hers "Look 2 Me" I have no idea what this title is meant to represent?

The song is an average pop song in Arabic that has little to do with the English title. I would perhaps place most of the blame for this assault on the lyricists and music composer Rashed El Shikh. I do not know what he was thinking. He wrote a decent song in the fashion of Nancy Ajram, but then he went with English title.

Diana is an up and coming singer form Lebanon who would have been signed up for a contract in the early/middle 00's, but right now it would be difficult.

#Comeback Download: Loai New 2015 Album البوم لؤى - عايشها

It might be too soon to start writing the obituary for the once dazzling career of Egyptian pop star Loai. Loai had had trouble with at least two music production companies. It took him 8 years to release a follow up album. While his first album was an amazing success story, it has ten tracks and each of them did very well. His second album was a big "meh"....this is the third album and it's ready for you.

There's another album that's being held back from being released by the artist and the production company that paid for it. Luckily, Loai found a major company to produce this album and they are pushing people to tune in. Marketing helps, but it's a lot easier if you have a solid album. So far, I heard five songs and I am only really excited about one of them.

At least we know of one leading music site from Egypt who calls this album as Loai's last chance to be a mainstream artist and not a has been, They are saying Khalid Eiz is missing form this album. Eiz, is a music producer who knows how to make hits for a host of artists. Lacking this collaboration can be risky....so let's give it time and wish Loai well. There are ten tracks in the album and I am certain radios and online views will pile in.

Slashing In South Korea And New Single About Slashing @Tarekalattrash

Tarek Al Atrash wrote and composed a new single and then he took it to the studio to record it with his voice. The song is about willing to be knifed for love, a normal thing for those familiar with Arabic passionate love. It's a declaration of a love statement and he swears by God, that she is the only one for him and she is the one he loves after God (Seriously how does that make your mamma?)

Tarek is a cool cat of Lebanese guy pop, he is young, happy and he sang a hit song about cigarettes, he he lives life on the edge and not fearing taking a knife for love is not a perfect idea for romance, but if it works and if it gets people to dance, why not?

Iraqi Singer Habib Ali Loses Me With His Meh 2015 Album

Iraqi vocalists are a dime a dozen, many of them are great, the few lucky ones get out and make a name for themselves away from the motherland without all the tragedies. Habib Ali seems to be one of the names who made a home in Dubai where he records new songs and releases singles and albums.

I do not know his history, he may have had many great hits in the past, but this new album of 2015 does not excite me. Platinum Records is pushing this album out and asking people to purchase a copy. Sure 30 seconds are not enough to formulate an educated opinion, but if you do not put your hottest bits from your albums in these 30 seconds, why bother? I did not hear anything I have not already heard five years ago.

The Sheer Yoga Pants Music Video! Jana - Bint Gdida / جنى - بنت جديدة @JanaOnlineWorld

When you are Lebanese and when your resume includes winning a spot on Studio El Fan, we must listen. Jana claimed the silver medal on the popular talent scouting show. But then all this vanished when I saw her music video, she is going for the sexy version of herself. sheer Yoga pants? Gym? Spa? Pool? club?....all the cliches in one music video....She does it all and the guy she is falling for him looks like a sissy (judging by the weight he lifts)

I do not know what goes into her head of the director, but perhaps he wasn't thinking with his head after all. It feels like a teen music video made to make all the boys in high school happy. That's fine, but Jad Shewry is doing his thing once more. I think this music video may be seen as an assault on feminism and all the nice work women in Lebanon have done to advance.

This is a club mix, which means the artists voice does not really matter because it's a sideshow in this noise-filled work of art. I think she should be free to make whatever music videos she wants to, but one question sticks out, does she really want to make this music video, or does she want to make a name for himself by going overboard. Maybe I had enough of young girls singing to make the man happy.

The Hottie Strikes Again! Melissa In Jazeeret el Hob

Average pop songs are many, but when a hot and an attractive average pop songstress returns with anew one, you would want to hear it. Melissa who has been away form some years now, released a new single late late year. It was a romantic song from a girl to her new love. It feels like reading through a girl's diary.

The title of her song "The Love Island" and she found a good looking guy who looks like a real person. And there goes the love tale with the couple. Melissa is still looking her finest exotic self. It's a bit of a fashion show and Melissa looks a lot calmer than she has in the past. Also she is not doing her over the top self. The music video offers nothing new, but it does not distract from the song...so there you have it.

New Music Video By @marwanasr Asks Us Not To Kill Those Who Cheat On You

That's a sobering message, if someone cheats on you do not kill this should go without saying. But in some parts of the world, some think murder in those cases is justified. At some instants the law even can explain such crimes....crime of passion/honor...etc. It's a bunch of men making laws to shield themselves from doing stupid things.

In the process someone loses their lives so the ego of the man remains intact. This might not be a song to my taste, but I love the message Marwa Nasr is spreading, do not kill them, let your abandonment do that. Too bad, the song's message got muddled with accusations of Marwa wearing a head cover that looked like the religious veil. She denies those charges. I like the filming style and the coloring, it's something different and it feels creative.

Marwa's album landed well and it offered a verity of songs mostly happy, funny or dark. This is the grim one. Heartache sucks, but people should not lose their lives for silly mistakes.

WATCH: Ayam We Ayshaha - Asma Refai ايام وعيشاها - اسما رفاعى @asma_refai

Ladies of pop have it tough, there way too many of them, which makes it harder to stand out, find decent songs, and make money. Guys have it tough, but they seem to have no trouble entering the business world through their fame. Sadly, most female pop artists settle for a husband and then disappear.

With that in mind, here's Asma Refaei with a new single about nostalgia and the lives we lead. It's a dark song after the storm feel when one feels alone and abandoned. The song got to air on Mazzika, which means more people will see it, but not clear if this is an amazing thing anymore. The music video is about having it all and all of sudden it's all gone.

Hany Shaker Should Shut His Face! New Song "Sekety Esmek"

There was a time when I loved this legend, the prince of romance darkness was like a voice that you needed in your life. But then he started speaking politics, which is fine. Then he started calling in TV programs and saying stupid garbage, and once he asked the government to murder anyone who disagrees with them.

I did not know what to make of all that madness of silliness, I know Hany loves Egypt and sees it as a strong country. But Hany strong countries can take criticism, and they do not murder their own people and disseminate lies via official media. Now Hany returns with a new love song for Egypt. He sings about this country as someone would sing about a love interest.

This is not his best song, it does not allow him to show his vocal strength. He is a big ego, take for example when a guy had a hit song about Egypt that everyone sang, he shamed the team behind the song--he charged them with turning Egypt into a night club. Again, this is not an exciting song, it's probably a throwaway song recorded in under few hours to make some deadline. Hany, go back to your old days and sing whatever you want, just do not ask the government to kill the innocent.

Heba Mokhtar Releases A Flavorless Pop Song

Heba Mokhtar is back for her fans, this is really awesome. But For those who like good songs, they are disappointed. Does this song do anything new? I do not see it does, and it do not see this song allows Heba to be different than a 100 pop stars this once.

Here's an Egyptian blonde who has a lot going right for her, and her new songs does not capitalize on any of it. It's wonderful that she got a new song out at this time, but if the song does not offer anything fresh, is it really new?

She came a long way from her debut in 2000 when Hamid El Shari dubbed her the new Dalida--the iconic Egyptian Italian diva. Perhaps you wil begin to understand my frustration when you hear this earlier song by Heba

This Steamy Zayne Song "Hayati" May Be Addictive @Zayne

"This music video may cause you to have a seizure", reads the disclaimer before the song. This is of course the new dance track by none but world class urban dancer and singer Zayne. The kid has moves and has the fellowship of fans. He is singing about drugs, in front of cars and inside liquored up nightclubs. The son of London, Zayne is one of the first developing artists to combine both Arabic and English beats, thus creating a new genre of it's own kind! Additionally Zayne is the only artist to date, who has an outstanding and controversial Arabic dance style and was the 1st to ever do so in the World of dance collaborating western style dance on Arabic music.

I give the song high marks for the energy and the youth--I guess things are changing....and those young dancers are shaking things up. I would say good job with the model and the people doing different things to each other on the screen. I think Zayne has a big network of support--he just keeps making songs and he never ceases to amaze. He is like the Chris Brown of Arabic pop, all moves and some talent.

This is a party song with so many people jumping around, thanks to Zayne for brining us this loud and sweaty party. I am not sure how his native Egypt would feel about this Hokus Bokus track. Publicly they may hate it, but in private all bets are off.

"The King" Mohamed Mounir New October Victories Song For #Egypt

They did not call him the King out of the blue. Egyptian love him because he speaks what's on their mind so beautifully when he sings. The dark son of the Egyptian south released a celebratory song for October victories--when Egyptians feel so proud for having liberating their land.

Mohamad Mounir sings loudly for the motherland and its people....for me this song while this is a great occasion does not transcend to the moment. It just lands quietly and does not move you to go back to those days or even imagine how wonderful they were.

The funny thing about Egyptian nationalism is that it does not require anything form folks. It simply say, we had an amazing history, you are awesome the way you are--do not ever change. Cool, but who will pay the bills?  The song is one of Mounir's weakest songs, it feels like a song he was pressured into recording or at least rushed. It's not just me who is saying that, the same disappointments is shared among his fans on his ultras page here.

I guess the title is cool though, "I am partial"....

Brazilian Samba By Lebanese Zinat #worldcup2014

People who like Brazilian soccer are a vocal bunch. In reality, no one likes Brazilian soccer, they only love it. Take for example Arab singer Zinat who just released and filmed a new song for the Brazilian national soccer team. This way the songstress joined the a global movement that speaks many languages, but are united in their appreciation for the Brazilian school of soccer.

Lebanses Zinat knows this, millions of her people call Brazil home! So since the world cup is held in that country, she filmed the song inside a Lebanese soccer stadium. I like the music, the lyrics are a big meh for me, and the voice does not come through from me here! But I look forward to Zinat's new album which is set to release this year with 9 tracks.
