The Russian Army Gets A Syrian Love Song By Ribal Al Hadi

No one knew who Ribal Al Hadi is before today, but now we know him because he just released a song titled the "Russian and Syrian Armies". It's a song supposed to scare away the terrorists. The song sing praises for the armies that are supposed to be fighting violent extremists. Somehow many more of them are made by those actions.

Ribal is a musician too, so he composed this song. Stupid guys do exist in every country, and tough guys do not release songs. He wore an army uniform and showed a gun and star in the Syrian flag to promote his song.

I do not know much anymore, but to celebrate a foreign invitation is wrong for the Syrian opposition and wrong for the regime. I am not taking sides anymore, I am just tired of people who shame others yet they invoke the same shameful acts. Ribal may chose to do this song or maybe he was asked to do it for the army. No doubt there are folks who love the regime, but.....

Syria's Piano Man Goes To #Germany #Palestine (Video)

CREDIT: HANNES MAGERSTAEDT/GETTY IMAGES

Give it up to this talented Palestinian refugee from Syria who has managed to make music in the face of a brutal war. In Syria's Yarmouk refugee camp on the outskirts of Damascus, an estimated 18,000 residents are living out a bare-boned survival. A brutal government siege has left them with little food and rare access to clean water amid the daily threat of violence.

But in the middle of the devastation, a musician with a battered piano is coloring the scene with sounds of hope. He plays his music over the constant bombs, bullets and sounds of destruction.

Ayham Ahmad has played his music amid the rubble of his Syrian hometown and at a transit stop while traveling by foot across Europe. On Sunday, Syria's beloved piano man performed his songs in front of thousands of people in the historic Konigsplatz arena in Munich, Germany.
Ahmad was one of the acts at the Danke-Konzert, or "Thank You Concert," a free show featuring a string of German artists welcoming refugees and thanking volunteers involved in the refugee effort. It was organized by nonprofit Bellevue di Monaco, German indie rock band Sportfreunde Stiller and Munich's city government.

Syrian Vocalist Assala Sets Her Sight On The Khaleej-#Aqoba

One of the best things that Assala did was to stop talking politics. Not that she was wrong, but that her critics were many and she got to the level where she has become an activist who took a stand on a losing battle. The versatile Syrian vocalist released a sweet album earlier this year and we fill in love with it. It's was an pan Arab pop album that blends so many musical styles and uses lyrics in Egyptian and Lebanese/Syrian.

Now she is ready to release her third album using the Khaleej dialect. Assala did very well singing in that regional dialect and she was able actually to dazzle even the big names in music. For starter, she has the voice, the emotional range and she gets to work with the top names in lyrics and music in that region.

Here's a single that will be included in that yet to be released album. A song about punishment, pretty fresh passionate poetry here.

This Hot Singer Goes To Mayrouba Festival

Nassif Zeytoun is the last iconic young singer who graduated from Star Academy and won the title. Now the charming Syrian vocalist is touring the world for his music tour. But before he hit the road, he stopped by a major music event in Lebanon where tourists and locals gather to enjoy wonderful music.

Nassif Zeytoun set the stage on fire and sang his heart out--too bad it was not life performance. The capable singer took his charm and fired up the attendees. He was not short on energy and the fans ate that up. This is a raw talent that has shown so much excitement.

See some highlights from the event and few of his signature songs. I think we are winner here to see a bright young artist who is doing all the right things and delivering solid songs frequently.

Syrian Musicians Turned into Street Artists in Turkey (Video)

God help these millions of refugees. If reports are right there are more than 2 million Syrian refugees in Turkey--mostly Syrians. Many of them are exciting people who had a life before the war in Syria, and some of them are musicians. So it was only a matter of time for a Syrian band to take on the streets of Turkey and dazzle the world with their music

Music makes people feel good and heals the soul. See these shattered people but not broken do a lovely cover for one of the most memorable songs by Egyptian pop star Amr Diab. Street artists are a dignified way to earn some cash. There's not much in it, but the artists feel that they are doing their part.

I am impressed by this cover, it's well performed despite all the rage these artists must be feeling by now. It's unclear to me if they are singing for their fellow refugees or for tourists, whatever it's I admire them. There's a lot of talent in Syria and I have yet to meet a mediocre Syrian vocalist.

Now Hiba Tawaji's Sees The Children Of Refugees @hibatawaji @OussamaRahbani

Hiba Tawaji has a big heart. She now tackles the issue of refugees and homeless ones. This is a human song that is fitting to a number of Arab countries. Syrians can relate to this song, and so do Iraqis and Palestinians. Lebanese may feel it as well. This song is about the little children of refugees who can be seen driving around the streets of Lebanon.

Street beggars, washing cars, selling stuff on the side of the road...etc. Some of them even have jobs and have give up on their dreams. As a song produced and put together by the house of Rahabni, it shows some responsibility on their side. Ghady wrote and Oussama composed. It's a serious problem in Lebanon and sadly, the elite in Lebanon have no solution. The common man in the streets does not see this as a good sign.

This is a moving song that humanizes the little ones, Lebanon hosts hundreds of thousands of refugees, but it's a small and a not very rich country. To be honest Lebanon has done more for the refugees that these rotten Khaleeji states who have the means. I only wish more of those celebrities would do things for the little ones. These kids do not have to drown had we not felt so stubborn about political matters. There's no right or wrong, but when kids start to get hurt, we collectively fail.

I salute the artists for releasing this song now, I like how they made them no more faceless by naming one Rami, he became the subject of the song and his work in the bakery shop. Not sure what to make of the French subtitle, but I will take it. This is the magic of the house of Rahbani, they make their music with a timeless appeal. So ten years form now, this song would still be celebrated, twenty more? Sure. This way they does not make reactionary songs, just broader themes songs that speak to different people.

Indie Palestinian Artist (Living In Paris) Sings For Aylan Kurdi--The Syrian Boys

Many of us are struggling to process the death of the little 3 years old Syrian boy, his mom, his brother and so many more. Sure the body washing ashore is very dark and it should bother so many of us and get us to change our ways-All of us.

For us Palestinians we feel affinity with our Syrian brethren, we get it and this is why the streets of Palest are now filled with images of this innocent boy. It was only naturally for one indie musicians from Jerusalem to release his song in honor and memory of Aylan.

Yes, Ahmed wanted to do something about this tragedy and he did the only thing he could do, sing for the little boy. It's shocking to many of us, a wake up call for all of us to keep our hearts alive and not to deny others a chance to live with dignity.

The grieving father wanted the best for his kids, but he got the worse. I hope you finds comfort with his family and friends around the world.

The First R Rated Song Is Offensive! Hussam Jneid Sang It

Syrian Hussam Jneid is the king of Syrian pop and live performances--there's not a single Syrian city that has not seem him do his thing and get young men excited. He knows to give them what they like, even though he ma cross some lines and break some taboos.

His concerts are often sausage fests and lots of drinking and drugs--you do not see them, but you sense their presence. This song has been marked for 18 year old or more. I am not sure why this song had to be R rated....it talks about sucking boobs....gross....and vulgar for sure. Does it help women? No! It even might contribute to increased sexual harassment.

The Revolution "Coup" In #Syria Gets Another Song

She is their biggest cheerleader, and she made her stands known to the masses, then she toned it down a bit. Now she returns with a cover of an old Oum Kalthoum song in favor of revolutions. Keep on mind, the original song was performed by the legendary Egyptian songstress who has also sang for the king before he lost power and the army took over.

Assala is a super star and she has the high for the octave and whatever comes below it. She has what it takes to rock concert halls. She did not have to support the revolution in Syria, but she did and she paid dearly for that. Now comes a more intimate song by her where she sings with no music and noticeable lack of makeup.

"Revolutionaries" is the title of that song and as a song Assala knock it out of the park....I do not get the politics of the Syrian revolution, I know this murder and thugs in Syria have to be stopped.

Ozaina El-Ali , A Very Sad Syrian Man

This guy is the saddest man, you will ever meet. Or it might be that he enjoys the feeling one gets when they have been wronged. I only say that because in all his songs he seems to get screwed when he has been nothing but nice. I know certain people enjoy the victim and guy on the cross. He is Syrian singer Odeina from the city of Lathikia where is father is a physician and an art critic. Odiena composes music, singers and writes lyrics, he has been in the business since the late 90s, he does have many fans at home and abroad. I know songs like his strike all the right notes with the young and the frustrated. He has made it big in Jordan as well as with expats.

In very short time, Odeina has met a lot of success with his fans. It helps that he is working full-time on music and he always releases new tracks. The guy has the voice and the flavor to make it in this very crowded music scene.

WATCH: Ashtar Nano ft. Princess Chelsie - Yolpana

Since you asked for a cute song, here's one that's not even in Arabic or a language spoken by more than a million people. A song about girl's school memory and growing up at home alongside her sbilings. It's a cute song that sounds like Iraqi and Syrian tracks. A song about school, and messing around the kitchen.

Kid songs are popular, all kids deserve to have songs in their native tongue to jam too. Princess Chelsie took that concept and ran with it. But I am also thrilled to have heard the intro by Ashtar Nano, she gets it.

The Amazing Muslim Singer Rami Mohamed Weeps Arabia

Rami Mohamed does not seem to be like a guy who likes the actions of the violent military regime in charge of Egypt at the moment. The Muslim singer (Monshid) lives in Turkey now, away from his motherland because he could to be free to think and yes he might be targeted like tens thousands. So when he is free to think, he makes pretty awesome tracks.

So the droves of young conservative Muslims adore this star and propel him to be one of the most viewed singers in his genre. I like the quite rage in his voice. He shows images from Palestine, Egypt, Syria, Yemen, Iraq, Libya and few more places. His heart is bleeding for the atrocities he sees around him. So he is appealing to the conscious on those people who are not dead in the inside.

I like it the song as it talks about justice and doing the right thing. No one disagrees of the size of mayhem we see in today's world. Rami is only singing about it and he is almost sobbing at this point. The world has failed a people who wanted freedom and wanted to be equal citizens. The world likes to deal with leaders who can deliver long-term stability in exchange for a little short-term chaos. But for families grieving their family members is no short-term affair. Rami comes from a good place and he loves all the things we love. His voice is so pure and so strong, it's like he tickles the listener emotions

The Voice Rym Mahrat "Wow!" Song @ReemMehrat

Syrian vocalist Rym Mahrst from her fame on the MBC Produced The Voice returns with a new single. Wow....dear sweet God, this is such a flawless song from a lady that I knew little about. I should not be surprised maybe because Syria has the world's best Arab vocalists. Rym was on team Assi Hallani and the experience has allowed her to get close to the music industry. Rym sounds very good. It's not about a strong voice with her, it's about character, and sounding authentic.

While she does look young, her voice makes her sound like someone who has lived in the golden era of Arabic music. Perhaps, she owns a time machine that she puts to good use. For me, it's her emotional depth and complexity that drew me to her. Also, if she wants, she can make her voice sound like that of the legendary George Wassouf (Watch here)

Rym is great, she is one ore great artist hailing from the enchanting city of Damascus. I wish her well and hope one day I will see her perform live in a free and a united Syria.

The Syrian Jasmine, Sarah Farah Returns With A New Song @SarahFarahORG

Few years ago, a Syrian vocalist was born on Star Academy, and she almost won the title for that 8th season. She did not end up winning the title but Sarah Farah will go one to be one of the most exciting and resourceful young vocalists.

She did release  half a dozen singles and they have all met success in varying proportions. Now comes her debut music video and an impressive new look and a new character that we meet for the first time. She is doing that rich Syriam Tarab, and it's rich. The song and its music video work well.

I consider myself a fan of this vocalist and I have just liked her even more. Sarah works with a new team and it shows in her energy and the material she is working with. It's becoming harder for young talents to get new work, Sarah made her own path and she seems to have found an outlet.

In Syria they seem not to let bad artists have a chance, if you come out of Syria, you must be worthy and decent. Sarah Farah is good and now she is just getting better with this new track...."YaShaqiq Elroo7" My Soul Twin

He is Back! @AbdelKarimhmdan The Arab Idol In A New Single

I was worried that had Mohamed Assaf not win the title for Arab Idol, Syrian Abdelkarim Hamdan was gonna take it home. But for some unknown person the Syrian vocalist was sent him in the final rounds and Assaf went on to win the title. Abdelkarim Hamdan was so talented, so mature that I worried he would be the winner.

Two and a half years years later, we get to hear a new single by Hamdan and it's worthy of this guys's superstar status as one gifted and flexible entertainer. It's such a perfect treat from this quiet singer. The song is full of nostalgia about love tale like very few. It pays to revisit the past and appreciate the enjoyable moments--even if that love never phased out.

The song surpasses five minutes, which is accomplishment for any young artist. Hamdan has a winner, a song feels authentic and real. The song of Aleppo did not want to do politics on Arab Idol, he did not event want to be with or against anyone, he just wanted to sing. But at the time things were tricky. Hamdan does do opera and he also does sing in Turkish as well as Arabic.  He is a student of Arabic literature, he reads for Nizar Qabbani and Mahmoud Darwich. He also does write his own material and do songs in English. Among his idols? Sabah Fakhri, Pavarotti

George Wassouf At Better Times (Video)

George Wassouf has seen better days and for some his best days may be behind him, but the Syrian cult singer will be remembered for a really long time not for his antics, his candor, but his style of music that is all his own. He is like no other truly. He is a brand name and his voice and style are a school a patent of sort.

I loved this man and have listened to his music with countless millions around the globe, his fans know he is nowhere near perfect, but they love him nevertheless. He is a smooth singer whose live performances are worthy of kings.

Learn about their culture and spiritual traditions and how preservation can help keep musical traditions alive for audiences today and in the future. PR firm rock paper scissors, known for deep storytelling around compelling music, sponsors this Facebook chat with client Jason Hamacher. His upcoming release, NAWA: Ancient Sufi Invocations & Forgotten Songs from Aleppo (Lost Origin Sound Series Sacred Voices of Syria Vol. 1, out June 17), is just one result of years of extensive research and travel to and from Syria in order to track down and record the ancient liturgical music of that part of the world.

Join us on June 4 from 1-3pm EST as we host a live interview with Jason right on the rock paper scissors Facebook page. We’ll pose some questions of our own to Jason, and you’re invited to comment and ask questions of your own, in the first of our regular series of rock paper scissors Facebook Forums.

Syrian Singer @MohamadBash Charms The World #Shoufi_Mafi

Bash is back and he is all loaded up with maximum level of charm. Syrian Mohamad Bash is one of those young talents who are stuck in the C list class of artists. But for his new music video he is playing tourist in some Asian city perhaps.

The new song is pretty interesting, it sounds like an Iraqi song from the title, but then the song goes in some foreign tongue. What's fresh is the arrangement of music here, it's pretty sophisticated. The Star Academy is taking pictures and videos with the tourists. He gives a shout out to Egyptian, Lebanese and Syrian dialects.

The director of his music video is also the same person that wrote the lyrics and music. So this is pretty new to me. The music video is low budget and made with volunteers. The new song shows what Bash has as a vocalist with big Tarab potential that is relevant for today's age.

It's a fresh song from a young artist whose talent should be shared with more people, I know his big smile opens hearts and doors for him.

Love In The Time Of ISIS As Told By One Syrian Music Video

I have been noticing more romance songs from Syria that allude to the war in that country. Romance is hard in conservative societies, but it's all but possibly during wartime. Hussam Jneed is releasing a new song where he is posing as a Syrian solider caught in war--sleepless nights for him for his lady.

These songs are popular even in peace time, and Hussam Jneed pulls a believable Syrian officer. It's one of those styles that young people enjoy and find it great for dance. The added value is of course to support that country's military.

Let's hope these two lovebirds get to enjoy each other's company one more time. But we all hope Syria will have better days than the current ones. It's only fitting the female to be a nurse to heal as the army does little in this department.

What's impressive the amount of action this music video shows--the Syrian army had to have a hand in producing this one. Indeed they are getting a thank you in the credit toward the end. You see the war captured beautifully. And you get to see ISIS types. You see the army protecting civilians and defending them under fire from terrorists. If this is true then sign me up for this army.

The Biggest Syrian Hit-Maker Releases A New Song @samir_mawla @attieh_rouwaida

Rouwaida Attieh thinks big, dreams big, and delivers big songs. The lady from Syria sets her sight on a new Arabi dialect to conquer, she is going after the Iraqi dialect with he new big release. The good news ever since she became a star more than a decade ago, she has to release one bad song. Each of her songs are carefully selected and nicely done.

So, when Rouwaida Attieh  offers a new song, you know you are right to be excited. For me, she is like a new Najwa Karam but from Syria and for the rest of Arabia. I like her choice and appreciate that she is one of the few pop stars from Syria who are calling for one motherland. The beautiful music video is filmed on fruit orchard and there are so many ladies working the farm....the new thing...Rouwaida Attieh  introduced a new dance for this song. She is not known for her dance moves, but with the releae of Abou Samra, she steps into this world.

This is a simple music video that takes us many years back and honestly remind me of my grandparents farming their orange groove in Palestine. This time Rouwaida Attieh is making her Iraqi fans happy as she sings for them. While she has done many personal and captivating music videos, and romantic stories this one is a fresh take. I do not love the male boss and all women workers, it's like they are a bunch of teen girls crushing over him. I have seen similar music videos by Nancy Ajram and perhaps Carol Samahe few years back (others as well) But Rouwaida Attieh takes a different route and keeps the song and the music video entertaining.

Rouwaida Attieh is now one of the coolest pop artists working in today's Arab world. She has worked hard to be where she is and to be frank, her talent is too big to deny. We must recognize the production team and the ones who filmed such a colorful story.
