What good is a revolution without some music? Recent uprisings in Egypt - revolution, intifada, an exaggerated but perhaps necessary hissy-fit, call it what you may - have inspired countless to turn towards music as a source of expression of not only frustration but also support for the Egyptian people.
And damn does it sound good.
Below is a compilation of songs that comprising the soundtrack to the continued struggle of the Egyptian people in the face of tyranny as well as the general struggle of all those in the Middle East, and beyond, fighting against injustice trying to make freedom more than a buzzword.
1. Jan #25 Egypt - Omar Offendum, The Narcicyst, Freeway, Ayah, Amir Sulaiman (Prod. by Sami Matar)
Inspired by the resilience of Egyptian people during their recent uprising, several notable musicians from North America have teamed up to release a song of solidarity and empowerment. The track is fittingly titled "#Jan25" as a reference to both the date the protests officially began in Egypt, and its prominence as a trending topic on Twitter. Produced by Sami Matar, a Palestinian-American composer from Southern California, and featuring the likes of Freeway, The Narcicyst, Omar Offendum, HBO Def Poet Amir Sulaiman, and Canadian R&B vocalist Ayah - this track serves as a testament to the revolution's effect on the hearts and minds of today's youth, and the spirit of resistance it has come to symbolize for oppressed people worldwide.

2. Not Your Prisoner - The Arabian Knightz Ft. Shadia Mansour, Fredwreck (Arabic and English)
This song is off Arabian Knightz upcoming album Uknighted State of Arabia.
3. Rebel - Arabian Knightz ft. Lauryn Hill (Arabic and English)
This is a single Arabian Knightz Recorded During the first week of the Egyptian Revolution, the night before the Friday of Anger...and didn't manage to leak till a few days later Right on the day the internet was open again after the Gov Blocking of Internet and Cellphone connections. The song uses a sample of a live performance from Lauren Hill from her song I Find It Hard To Say. The music was produced by Iron Curtain from Germany and the song itself was never given a final mix but was rather leaked as a ruff copy due to circumstances.
