This is So Arabic, But it's NOT

Assyrian singer Linda George likes to party like all Arab singers do. She sounds like she is singing in Arabic, but she is not. For the untrained ear, this is just like all Middle Eastern languages. Her style of singing the way she opened the song it sounds like the traditional Arabic Mawal style.

But Linda George, born in Baghdad, is a true living picture of that artistic beauty. This songstress will take your thoughts to another level. Her rhythmic, sultry voice will appeal to your soul, where art, poetry and beauty live. Linda has been singing since she was a little girl: her career began at the tender age of five. She was the church choir soloist in Baghdad, where she appeared on national television. But she is an All American girl, she's got that California spirit.

Assyrians are the original Christian community that lives in Iraq, and has been under persecution for ages. They are very proud of their religion and their culture that is deeply rooted in history. So it should come to no one's surprise that Linda will have two Christian themed albums to her name.

I first became aware of the Assyrian population when I visited Dearborn, Michigan is the home of many of the Assyrains. Like many other Assyrians, she eventually moved to the United States with her family. By that time, even as a young girl, Linda was already established in the Assyrian market.

Now living in California, with fourteen very successful albums under her belt, including two Christian albums, Linda feels she has reached her peak in the Assyrian market and it is time to be expanding worldwide. The Assyrian community is under represented in the music and Linda helps bring the balance to her people's plight as she makes music for her countrymen as well as those curious ones.
