To be an iconic Egyptian celebrity with the love of millions at home and abroad is not easy, but it seems a lot easier than turning 58 and being single. Mohamed Mounir has shaped his country's music for more than 30 years. He united the south and the north and blends their musical heritages in easy serving for the people of Egypt. He has toured the world and they loved him for it.
He started singing in his little village sing the local dialect, then he set his sight to conquer the big city, with a bit of hard work and luck, he did it. He did not want to be one of those classical guys like Abdel Halim, he did not want to be one of those folksy singers. Instead he carved his won path and blended everything in a new musical style.
One question, on your birthday (Oct 10), this year you turned 58, you have never been married before. If so you have never announced it. You own a number of villas scattered around Egypt, you have a large ban account, you live in a religious and conservative society, how did you mange to get so unnoticed? You have tons of lady friends and fans all over the world, none of them is right? I forgot you might be married to your music career.
Mouni has made a lot of songs about religion and about kids, he seems to love the little ones, many of his songs show him as a young boy too. Sure, it's his personal life, but I feel it's rather odd that he has not found the right person yet. Maybe next year when he is 59, he might have move luck. On that note, the guy doe snot look his age, not one bit.
