It's becoming more and more important for Arabic movies to have a soundtrack, they always had songs since the dawn of cinema days. But just pure instrumental music for a movie soundtrack has not picked up big yet. It seems that they would rather have songs and dances to help promote the movie.
The movie was a tale of a blind man living in one of those poor areas and he is a witness for just about anything in his part of town. He sings, smokes dope and lives his life
But an older Arabic movie Al Kitkat, had it right, the movie was a big hit when it was released starring seasoned actor Mahmoud Abel Aziz. Rajih Daoud "nickname biscalia" is the Egyptian composer behind the sound track. It became an instant classic in both Egyptian cinema and music.
Enjoy the track, it's quite good and makes a nice background music to whatever you are doing. It does sound like a Western melody, but the magic of the lute is hard to miss throughtout.
