He is the godfather of Saudi music, before he was a singer he is composer and now he is a legend. Meet Abdel Rab Idris, the elder of all great things by the way of Saudi Arabia. But before Saudi Arabia claimed him he was born in Yemen. He is father is from Somalia, and young Idris went to school in Cairo where he got his  PhD in music in 1988, but before that he also used to teach music in Kuwait. Therefore he is like the music version of the Arab League.

He wrote music for Saudi legend Mohammad Abdu, Moroccan diva Samira Said, Lebanese Magida Al Roumi, Lebanes Nancy Ajram, Kuwaiti Abdel Karim Abdl Qadir, Egyptain Amal Maher, and scores of artists in the Gulf.

As for his own songs, he has more than a dozen of albums that went to on to sell records. Among all his songs, the better known song is Leila....or Night, a song about a night of love and romance that made the man feel like all his life he or she was waiting for this night. His compositions work great with poems and really long songs.

Nawal Al Zoghbi: "I AM Single And Ready To Mingle"

Nawal Al Zoghbi has been performing non-stop in Lebanese concerts....she gave an interview to Elaph who keep calling her "the golden artist" She has been trying to release new tracks, but the timing was not right. The general climate in Lebanon is not too good and not much better around. I like what she has to say about releasing an album at this time is like dumping it in the sea, it does no good.

So the trend is to release single. She wants peace and justice and she talked about Gaza and Cairo. So single is the way to go. Speaking of singles, she is one right now and she is living her own life, not talking about any romance at this time. She also talked about being offered gigs to be a judge on many of these singing reality shows.

Nawal Al Zoghbi is a good soul, it's true she has not released any new songs for more than two years now. The allure of her stardom is still pretty much in full swing, she does face a lot of competition from all over. No doubt like all of us she is growing older, but her energy is also matching her youth. She said, I'm single, free and grownup! Kudos to her--this is what feminist is all about. Tamer Hosny And World War Three... "We Ba3din"

"World War Three" was a popular film in Egyptian cinema last month. It's a comedy that feels like A Night At The Museum, from the famous funny trio. Even though the idea is not original, the film seems funny and relevant. These guys make funny movies, but this seems to be their biggest budget film. A big cast, lots of makeup, and plenty of history.

The film is riddled with pop culture references, lots of Pharaohs and historical figures that tell jokes and inspire our historical curiosity. Tamer Hosny got to perform the theme song for the film.  And this was the least Tamer Hosny song you will find.  

I look forward to seeing the film. Tamer is working hard to earn back some of his fame and musical relevancy. The song is about taking it easy, being patient and working hard.
