Assi Hallani Please Stop Singing And Start Composing! Hala Al Kaseer In "Ya Zaman"

Hala Al Kaseer met and trained with Assi Hallani on the set of MBC's The Voice. The two became friends and its seems their friendship lives on. The Lebanese pop icon Assi just composed a classy song for the young Syria songstress. The surprise? It feels like a song straight from the pages of the golden age of Arabic music.

Tarab songs are hard to come by and they are hard to fake and assemble. Not for this team. Assi may have been releasing lame songs in the past few years, but this song redeems the icon. This is a song that extends to move than five minutes where Hala feels comfortable performing it and the music affords her to do so. Tony Saba arranged the music and the song was an instant hit among Hala's fans and older Arab expats who miss this kind of songs.

Iconic Diab Mashhour, We Love You And Love You Music #Syria

The name is Diab Mashhour,, he is a Syrian singer known best for singing in the old folksy style for the Euphrates river.  His songs were often incorporated on TV shows, and dramas. He shot to fame in the seventies when he sang on Duraid Laham shows.

For many, he is a legend, and beloved singer who had only the best and most simple songs that sounded so traditional yet so entertaining. At first he was a local singer, then moved into radio and he was certified as a singer in Damascus. He is so popular that he toured the world bringing his music to all the 21 Arabic countries, and best he traveled to the States, Greece, Spain, Briton, Philippine, Thailand where he had concerts.

He is still active in the music scene to make his fans happy....his style and dialect offer something unique beloved by pretty much all Arabs. He is one of these Syrian artists who talk a local culture and made a huge name for himself doing so. Syria loved him and his fans adore spending time listening to his oldies. Looking at this video I can tell he is a fun guy who does not mind moving on stage as sings.

Ahlam Just Had The Biggest And Most Expensive Album Launch Party (Video)

During a press conference for Arab Idol last year Ahlam insulted the Arab press that covers music, not the smartest thing to do if you want people to like you. She now pays for her stupid comments. She did hold a big event and album launch party in the Mall of Dubai and no one seemed to brother writing about it.

The UAE artist released a decent album last week and it deserves a lot of attention, not because it can cure cancer, but because it's the labor of love and hard work. The lady took over the mall and met with her fans who came from all over the Gulf region to see her at the mall (see the interviews)

I must say, her makeup for the event was something else. Ahlam has a really good voice that overs warmth and complexity. It's her firebrand personality that gets her in trouble. She now dubs herself the queen and the Artists of Arabs.

There was a big turnout and lots of money invested in this event and the excitement was clear. It seems Ahlam wanted to have her revenge and get back at all her doubters that she still has it and the fans love her. I like that, having a big company back you up does help too

Indie Band Cairokee Stuns The World Once Again @CairoKee

Egypt's biggest and most popular indie rock band released a new album this week. The beloved band is changing the topic once again. Instead of political themes they have been known for, they are going for every day stories. Cairokee releases their fourth album and it makes their fans happy yet it is faced by radio silence from the mainstream media.

They chose to sing for the common man and woman, the people they made them who they are. The sing for the street vendor, the overworked police officer, the mason the public servant. It's a different kind of song. We do not get as many songs like these in our part of the world. The band is made out of young and bright artists who are well-read and keep up with what's going around them. They come across as cynical idealists.

It feels like a folk/country song fashioned in a Western/Eastern style. I like how the song is in the first person of the common man. The music video showcases many faces of Egypt. I like the daily routines, grabbing a cup of tea and a newspaper. The song is about what people want vs. what they need.

The people just want to live and let live. They do not want to break the bank, just let them live. I understand that the need to have simple and realistic dreams. As for Cairokee they continue to grow and show promise. I love how they change styles, topics and conversations every time you think they may have toped themselves--they come back with something fresh and interesting.  Don't you just love the album cover? Unlike the many covers we've seen where the band takes center stage, Cairokee lets the topic dominates the cover and it shows a lot of class.

This is an album to purchase, support and fall in love with.
