Arab Revolutions Get A Sexy Makeover

So someone got fed up with seeing those protest images from all over the Arab world and decided to replicate the revolutionary images and make them into sexy ones in a battle of the sexes for supremacy. Rich girls and poor dudes who will win? I do not know the rich dude maybe?

Not a great song, but OK. the music video though makes it stand and draws people to watch it like a poor soundtrack fro some awesome action movie. In this music video Sijal Hashim, a Lebanese singer and a new comer leads a pack of dudes in a march against women. Those women are all dressed in sexy riot police outfits.

This is a fashion show for hipsters and their likes. Yes, there are some sweet cars, firefighters and some ladies. this might be reflective of the reality in Lebanon where a lot of men struggle to win the attention and the heart of the ladies--maybe they need to try harder.

I do not like the stripping part, it's too cheap and over sexified women as objects.

Libya Song By Hamid Shari

When the father of Arabic pop comes from Libya, you know Libya and the conflict will get some good songs. While Hamid El Shari released couple of songs for his country and has been active on the social media outlets promoting the cause of freedom. As a fan of this gifted Libyan musician, I try to keep up with his work.

His latest song is to support the revolutionaries and the youth of Libya, he is telling them not to fear the Qaddafi committees and army gangs. Best line is when he asks them to draw inspiration for his ancestor of that land.

It seems that not enough Arab singers are willing to sing for Libya and Syria, something is missing, they cannot be all busy. But the sons of Libya have been introducing their work and art ever since the conflict broke out on February 17th of this year.

Iwan Shoots Same Song Twice

Lebanese composer/singer Iwan has his first Gulf dialect song few months ago, and even though the poetic lyrics were awesome, the music video was a let down for many including the Saudi poet who wrote the song. (Read More) It was a fresh start for Iwan to do something away from Lebanese and Egyptian for change to challenge himself a bit

Lebanese controversial music director Jad Choury directed the music video. It turn out Sara Al Hajery, the poet lobbies Iwan to re-shoot the music video becasue she was unhappy with the way Jad's version of the music video. According to the poet she feels Jad was unable to translate her vision for the song. And that the poet did not like how Iwan looked in the music video--he did look like Aladeen.

Iwan caved in and a new music video just wrapped filming in Lebanon, where the poet was present during the filming. The music video will be released next week. This is so first time, I do not think any other artists had to do this before. I do not think there is on Arabic song that has two official music videos yet alone have a new version with a new director. I know many stars wish they can get a do over, but it seems Iwan is the first.

Sufi Flemanco Is Making a Comeback

Arabs are suckers for the guitar, Sufi in Islam love music and poetry. You combing the best of those two you get some of the finest tour de force in entertainment that is deeply rooted in history.

Love a great guitar and love uplifting music that singing about greater things in life other than oneself. This is some of the finest Sufi Flemanco I have enjoyed in a while. The music where Morocco meets Spain, the Moors and their descendants bring back to life some ancient tradition.

Not too many teenagers appreciate this kind of music, and too many religious figures speak out against mixing religion and music, but what do they know? Enjoy the part where Spanish meets Arabic in a nice circle taken out of the Gypsy Kings book and the old sufi poetry.
